So I arrived at the clients house at about 1pm to get started on what I thought would be a simple one step and 3 hours later be out of there with an overall “shiney car” waiting til summer for a full re-vamp of the paint…yeah, that’s not in my nature!!!

<o></o>

Here is what I was greeted with upon arrival (lacking full sun as it rained that day and night)

It was obviously “detailed” prior to being sold…tisk tisk!

<o></o>

I washed it outside and it started to sprinkle a little bit, so I pulled it inside to clay it. I removed a lot of dirt and debris from the paint. Here is what I was left with:

All taped up and ready to rock:

Polish on top, nothing on bottom

Here are the afters…some are in a different setting on accident, but its all I have. Excuse any smearing, it was 930 at night and raining = moisture in the air and no sense in wiping a black car 100 times after polishing.

And here are the afters the owner took the next day:

Overall, a HUGE improvement! Holograms and buffer trails removed, and about 90% paint cleanup! This one took a little over 8.5 hours to get a wash, clay, compound, polish, sealant, and tidy up. I could tell they wanted me out of there, so I didn’t take too many afters, so I'll let the owner speak for my work!!!

Looks great Eric! Tell the owner not to post those pics on Vortex or AudiWorld/Forums or the 4x4 police are gonna issue him a verbal citation :nervous:

But you did a heack of a job. Nice to see you not sell yourself or your customers short when you have the opportunity to do more. Very Classy!

hahaha, that is on the agenda - a drop kit!!! at least I think so...

yeah, I just couldnt leave it at a one step. IMO, I HAD to at least two step it, while it could have used a 3 step with wool, thats for sure!

I am such a sucker for an Audi detail. Wonderful work!

LOL @ D Tailor - not only will the 4x4 police get after him, but he'll catch some grief for the bright center caps as well. :D I still remember posting my old Audi after I added a STASIS drop and 18" rims just like the ones above. I was kinda' proud of my efforts, but the feedback I got was..."Dude, way too much sidewall on those tires. You should've gone with 19's." Doh!

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Terrific before & after shots, and I'm sure the owner is ecstatic.

Typical excellent job, Eric. :)

Audi paint is hard but at least it is consistent and you can go hard into it without worrying much about holograms or hazing.

that's my brothers car and i know lowering is a necessity and is the next step don't worry.

As for the detailing from Eric I honestly couldn't believe his work. From the moment he shined the lights on the paint I knew he was in for his share of detailing magic. The amount of time and detail he put into this car astonished me. I've never seen work like his and he managed to bring the paint back to life. If you want someone who cares about the effort being put into the detail of your car eric is your man.

ps. I also have never heard so many people comment on the paint now. I'll make sure he gets referrals.

Thanks Eric! --- Envious Detail

Great job- You got a lot done! I'd be afraid to start anything other than a wash at 1pm.

Does the owner of the Audi intend to use it off-roading or in monster truck rallies? The thing looks Trail Rated! :p

sweet job eric. so you went the extra mile ehh and 2 stepped that bad boy 8 hrs later you yielded some nice results.

Black is a pain to work on.

toyotaguy- Nice work, and that's not a whole lot of time spent either!

tsteez- Welcome to Autopia!

Hope your brother doesn't go nuts lowering it and miss the ground/wheel clearance or have alignment issues. Are the wheels/tires short enough to cause speedo/etc. issues? Other than the wheelwell gaps that car looks GOOOOOD, and I'm not a fan of the post-'05 front ends.

Off-topic, so excuse the tangent, but speaking to Accumulator's post...

To my eyes, the wheels & tires are very close to stock diameter....shouldn't be any speedo issues, or at least anything beyond a minor variation. In terms of the suspension, there are some wonderful products out there (of course, there's crap too...but most folks who spend the money on an Audi avoid such products). I went with a STASIS street coilover kit on mine - $1,300 installed - and couldn't have been happier. No alignment issues, very minimal hit to ride quality, no affect on load handling (I'm a musician and carry around some heavy gear), and a remarkable improvement in handling.

Anyway, apologies again for derailing the conversation. It was fun scrolling through the pics again...just an outstanding detail! I still remember the first time I polished mine...talk about a learning experience.

VroomVroom- Thanks for the info, I really dunno from recent-vintage A4s. My wife's A8 has that jacked-up look (and so does our '93 V8 to some extent), but we're not lowering it lest it have the same ground clearance issues that my S8 has. I've had low cars, and even the S8 is really too low for our area, can't get in/out of many parking lots with it without scraping.
