Engine Bay Detail on a Hyundai

Well my cousin had asked me to detail his engine bay for him because he had some 'caked on oil spots' on the valve cover. I figured sure, it'd be worth it, $20 for a little bit o' work. :heelclick

Little did I know, that when I got there, the engine bay was amongst the dirtiest I had ever seen, and the oil was sure as hell caked on there.

I arrived at 3:30PM (before the family SB XLI party), and let the car run for 5 minutes or so. Detail went as so...

Products

Optimums No Rinse

Simple Green 1:1

OTC Wheel brush

Smaller brush for small spots

Meguiar's Silicone Free Dressing

5 microfiber towels

1 applicator for dressing

$20/30 minutes later

Unfortunately, I got no 'before' shots. It was a frigid 25 degrees outside, so I got right to work. About halfway through I realized it, and I was kicking myself

In case you can't tell, the car is due for a cleaning/detail any day now. Hopefully he'll give me a call. If not, I got plenty business from him at the party, I got an M3, new Denali, H2, S500, MDX and a few other cars in about 15 minutes conversation :getdown

That definitely looks cleaner than my engine bay (I have the same car if you already can't tell by the screen name lol). Being that his car is pre-2004, I bet your cousin will be plenty happy about the difference. I should detail my engine bay again but the last time I did it I had some issues afterward so I've been afraid to mess with it again.

Yeah, detailing engine bays can be a scary task, specifically on customer cars. Just know what to touch and what not to touch and your good to go.:dance
