Electrical Question ties into polishing

PAR Detailing

Ok so here is the background to my question. In my garage I have several outlets but sometimes I can feel my polisher not working at its optimal level. It is like for a period of time it is not getting enough power so it is weak and then it will get a surge of power and run at normal speed. I also just did a mobile job at a huge industrial wearhouse and my buffer was running like a champ. My G110 was unstoppable and now that I am back in my garage it is pretty wimpy. This is a pretty new as I dont recall having this issue in the past. I know a new fridge was put in the garage but I also tried using outlets from all over the house and running extension cords (heavy duty ones) to the garage. I am at al loss.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Is it fixable as a DIY? or do I need an electrician?

Thanks

Jon

You are exceeding the amount of amps for the size of the installed cable. The fridge may need a separate feed from the breaker box.

Take in consideration the total circuit load current (AMPS) a reasonable voltage drop, cable thickness (G) and length (feet) of cable run - Wire Resistance and Voltage Drop Calculator -

If it's happening "all over the house" on multiple circuits, I would definitely consult an electrician. Sounds like maybe the main voltage is fluctuating or there's a draw on it from somewhere.

Are you having any problems with any other power tools or electronics?

Your typical appliance based breaker is rated for 15A and can be loaded to a maximum of 12A. (80%)

It may depend how many devices are also on that garage branch circuit. However the breaker would open before noticing a "loss of power" if the circuit is ever overloaded.

The other thing is that the warehouse is probably on a 347/600V service versus the 120/240V residential.

1st year electrical apprentice. =P

Maybe someone with more experience will chime in, would love to know as well.
