Electric cook top

Has anyone attempted to polish out an electric cook top.  Mine has a bunch of stains and small scratches?

I've cleaner my gas stove top with Comet Cleanser (Yes, it is abrasive) and then used Meg's M06 Cleaner Wax by hand. Adds a nice shine, but any close proximity to the burners will burn off the wax in short order. It would be a little over-board , according to my wife, to have me polish out a stove top with my DA and M101, but I guess it's all part of the Obsessive-Compulsive Detailing disease/disorder, if you want the stove top to look newer/better. You can try it and let us know what you did and how it turned out. I would assume, though, that most stove tops are baked-on enamel finishes, or powder-coated paint, which may be  more difficult to polish out due to the hardness of the finish.
