EF Engine Degreaser vs P21S Total Auto Wash

I have a 32oz thing of EF Engine Degreaser and P21S Total Auto Wash. Both I"m not happy with using, leave behind a very oily greasy residue, but yet, they do a great job of cleaning up. My my main problem is I don't know how to use them correctly. Does either or of the products need to be diluted before each task???

P21S also cleans up well, smells just about the same as EF Engine Degreaser and also leaves behind a nasty residue. What I mean when I say I don't know how to use them is what's the best most efficient way to use these products. I know especally P21S has it's most versatitly but do they need to be diluted for them to work properly??? With winter approaching and all that salt invading my truck throughout, these cleaners would be very handy to have around in keeping up with my truck. First time I used EF engine degreaser on my engine it faded out some hoses and lines. What I did was the usual mask off, rinse engine and use EF Engine Degreaser with a rag, rinsed off only to find yea the metal is clean but the rubber and plastiv areas look like dog crap  What am I doing wrong???? I know this sounds like 2 questions in 1 thread but I am mostly concerned how to use the products properly so I don't get these kinda results. This is the best way I can describe it. Thank you,,,,,91

Nasty residue? Did you wash the P21S off? For engine cleaning spray it undiluted, then wash off with water.

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

If any plastic or rubber looks dull after, just treat them with your favorite dressing/protectant.

I have started using Stoners Trim Shine and its working well. Just spray on.

I can really only comment on the P21S TAW as I haven't tried the EF product. I use TAW for EVERYTHING, not just in the garage, but in the house too.

You can use it diluted or full-strength, depending on how nasty the stuff you're cleaning is. Diluted (can't tell you how much, I just do it by eye), it's great for quick cleaning of wheelwells, etc. especially in the winter.

If it's leaving a residue, you must not be rinsing it off well enough. Either that or you haven't really cleaned the crap off as well as you think and THAT'S what the residue is (maybe a mixture of TAW and undissolved oily crap). I've used TAW to clean some pretty awful stuff off of some pretty weird things, and it always leaves a VERY clean surface when I'm done. Sometimes I DO have to work at it for a while, though. And sometimes I have to use a solvent first; there are some things that sorta overwhelm the TAW. Oh, and let the TAW "dwell" on whatever you're cleaning, sometimes it takes a while to emulsify things.

So, I'd try pre-cleaning the worst of the stuff with a solvent, cleaning LONGER with the TAW and rinsing MORE. See if that helps.
