Educational detail - 56K warning

COME AT ME BRO
On Saturday, I helped a friend clean up the paint on his truck. He has a 2005 black Tacoma that had some wash/drying marring and a few other paint imperfections such as sap & tar. He washed & clayed the week before. When he brought it over, we gave it a quickie wash and proceeded to the polishing.

The reason I say "educational" detail is that he is more or less new to polishing with a machine. I had shown him before a technique for using the PC 7336. This time I had him do the final polishing on the vehicle.

Process was:
Quickie wash
Cyclo w/ ornage light cut/polish pad - SSR2.5
PC w/Edge blue polish pad - Pro Polish
sealant - Wolfgang

Time was limited, and aiming at removing the paint imperfections is all we had planned. No interior work or anything was done. This took a little longer than I would have liked, but it was a learning experience.

Overall, he was very happy with the results. I would say that it's about 98% scratch & marr free. I tried to do some explaining about proper wash techniques during the detail as well.
 
Nice flake pop!! I think it is great that time was given to educate. I also think that it was good that someone was willing to learn. Most of my friends are not interested in learning. But are happy to see the shine.

Considering that you used the Cyclo for paint correction, rather than the PC, can you estimate what time was saved using the Cyclo rather than the PC? The reason that I ask is the Cyclo is something that I have considered purchasing for almost a year but have delayed because I cannot justify the expense because the PC has sufficed on my personal vehicles.

I use the Cyclo the majority of the time now. To me, it's just a better all around polisher. It will remove more defects than the PC can, you cant bog it down, you can use it as a finesse polisher, etc.

I don't know how much time you can really save with it versus the PC. I think if you wanted to remove X-amount of swirls in X amount of time, they would probably be about the same. The difference is where you want to remove marring that is "worse" - the Cyclo will do that better than the PC, and will remove worse defects than the PC is able to do.

I could get by on my personal vehicle with hand polishing nowdays, but the Cyclo is so much better when I do have a customer car to do.

Other extras - no backing plates to fool with, pads are cheaper, there's no speed control to fool with, it's prettier than the PC. :D

Since I have become interested in the Cyclo I have only read one dissenting opinion on the Cyclo vs. the PC. That one opinion came from a member that I respect very much.

It would seems that the yay's far outnumber the nay's at this point. Will have an oppurtunity this fall to test out a Cyclo thatmgm2003 has offered to let me use. By that time both the wife's car and the Black truck will need a complete detail and I will be able to make my own comparisons based on those two details.
