Edge white/red vs 3m ultrafina pad.

Hi guys, im wondering is anyone here has used the red and white wave edge pads and the 3M ultrafina pad.

Im curious to see differences between the pads.

Im currently using the edge 2000 system so i'd rather buy a red or white wave foam pad to use with my ultrafina. Which pad will be best?

Cheers

I just got two red Edge wave pads yesterday. I'm going to try them out today. I have three of the 3m blue waffle pads, but I haven't used them alot. My backing plate isn't big enough for the huge 3m pads.

Everyplace I checked is out of stock on the white Edge wave pads (which is why I just got two of the red).

Darn it... more stuff to order. :)

Just got done using the red edge 2k 6" wave pad to jewel a few panels on my 'bee. The foam feels identical to the 3M wave pad. I really can't tell a difference between the two. Here you can see the size difference. The 3M pad is *huge*.

If you like the finish the 3M pad gives you, but don't like how big it is, the red edge wave foam pad is exactly the same foam. Either one will give you fantastic jeweling results.

Edit: Forgot to mention... One of the reasons why I've always been such a wool monger is because foam scares me; it runs so much hotter, I'm always worried of melting a plastic bumper or worse. Wave foam runs *much* cooler than flat foam. Not quite as cool as wool, but at least it gives you a bit more breathing room. When I need that little bit extra gloss over the white finishing wool, the red edge 2k wave foam will be the new pad of choice.

Now you are making me want to order more stuff. Darn you!

I think I'll order a few of the red Edge wave foam pads instead of the Ultrafina. Now I just have to make sure that the vendor I buy it from will make sure it's compatible with my 3k adapter. :wall

Where'd you purchase your red Edge foam pad from Supe?

It never does end, does it? Just when you think you *finally* have everything you need...

The Edge 2000 Wave 6 inch Foam Pads are double-sided buffing and polishing pads for dual action or rotary car polishers and buffers.

Supposedly, it's an exclusive to autogeek. I wish I had a white one to compare it to. I have this feeling that it's probably the same foam as the white, although Geek says it's softer than the white. The red edge pad and the blue 3m pad are made from the softest foam I've ever felt.

Yeah you're right Supe, I can't seem to find the red Edge wave foam pad anywhere else but AG.

Are you still thinking about getting some white Edge wave foam pads? If you are, please fill us in on what you think of it compared to the red ones. :)

I think A.G gets these made special or something? Nobody else has them.. there's got to be a reason other than 'just because'.

This is why I stopped detailing for a good while. The never ending onslaught of stuff I wanted to try was frustrating.

I want to stick with some good polishes and a sealant or two depending on a clients tastes.. and not have to have 500 bottles of product to get there.

Not for a while. I've spent so much on detailing supplies... Just about spent all the money I've made at it. Besides, the white and red are both supposed to be final finishing pads. Probably not alot of difference, if there is a difference at all.

Yeah, the Geek seems to be big on their "exclusive" products. They also have an "exclusive" red LC foam, too, although there really is a difference between the black LC foam, and the Geek's "exclusive" red LC foam; the red is not as firm.
