Edge: velcro vs quick disconnect

Which is better to go with? Ive read some good things about the quick disconnect, but getting a velcro backing plate allows you to use more than the edge pads.

what do ya'll recommend??

If you change pads alot then the QD is the way to go . True if you use a back plate you can use other pads . IMO once you use Edge pads you wont go back to any other. Thats just my opinion ;) If your using a PC and thinking about the QD I would hold off and see what happens when the new shortened QD comes out .

Many of us got that deal, but there is a bit of vibration. This is annoying to some people. The pads themselves are superior quality.

I can understand switching for better quality pads.

But switching for the Quick Disconnect. What, save 1 min per detail?

lol i must be weak or something. whenever i try to disconnct the edge 2000 pads, i have to use two hands to press the button to pull it off. i guess my one thumb alone is just too weak.

iIwas going to order the connector & the pads soon, should I hold out for the shortened version? Is the annoyance really that bad? Any idea when the shortened version will be out? Thanks in advance.

I would unless you are in a hurry.

Contact The Edge directly for availability.

I would also recommend waiting for the revised adapter. Up to about speed 4.5, the longer adapter produces a reasonable amount of vibration. Above that speed, it becomes less acceptable. Some people don't seem to mind the current vibration levels, but why not wait for the improved version if you aren't in a big hurry.

The quick connect design isn't only useful for fast pad changeovers. It eliminates the potential problem of the backing plate coming into contact with the paint. It also provides two polishing sides per pad. You can use the top side to polish underneath objects like rear view mirrors, or you can have a custom pad made with two different foam textures.

On the other hand, a velcro backed assembly will allow you to switch between different manufacturers' pads more easily.

I may give the edge pad a try in the future. I'll see what other people think about it for awhile. I just bought a ton of pads a month ago so I'm stocked up for now.
