Edge Green Pad falls apart

hammondc

Damned pollen!!!
I have used this Edge Green pad about 4 times. This last time, the backing fell apart. LUcky I felt it start to go before I ended with the business side of the backing plate on the paint. I got it from the PAC, so , should I tell them or go strait to Edge?

It's hard to say for sure, but it looks like the Velcro backing came unglued. Is that correct?
If it is, two things come to mind.
1. I think Edge had a batch of pads that the Velcro wasn't attached as well as they wanted,
2. The way you clean your pads seems to have an effect on how well the Velcro stays attached,

Looks like you have the old style DA pads. Email or contact Edge and they will replace em free. Only will have to pay for shipping. They are extremely helpful! I've had that exact same problem and they replaced em all with a stronger glue.

When did you order the pads? Just curious because I just ordered a bunch and have yet to use them when PAC had the huge Edge sale going on.

I got that one about 6 months ago. I have a few more, but this is the only on that the velco has come completely off. I have had a problem with. I was them in Tide Free detergent with a little vinegar. If they are super dirty, I may spray the pad surface with a simple green dilution.

Please call me to discuss and we will take care of this for you immediatly. Sorry about any problems with the pads but we will get to the bottom of it and fix it for you right away.

This guy is awesome A+++ Customer service!

How fast does he respond to emails? I had a problem with one of my pads and mentioned the problem over at Autopia. Aaron PM'd me immediately and I PM'd him back about my problem. I haven't heard a peep from him since. This was about two or three days ago. I've heard customer service is outstanding, but I sure am not feeling it right now. :(

Sorry my friend but my time at autopia is very rare. They hardly ever talk about our pads over there and its only once in a while that I look at their site. In fact I was banned from autopia on one ocassion for giving advice about our pads. I have since signed up under a new name and very rarely post or remain active. I am sure that when I PMed you I would have given my real email address which is where I check and respond everyday. Please send your reply to the info below and I am sure you will be more than satisfied with our customer service.

Best regards,

I just wanted to tell everybody how pleased I was with the customer service provided by Aaron Krause, president of Edge Pads. I sent in a pad that tore on me and he replaced it with three pads! I was under the impression that he was just going to check to see if it really was defective. He did not find it to be defective, but nevertheless, he replaced it with three new pads. Quite honestly, I was floored! I have never been treated so well in the area of customer service. I just thought I would pass my experience along. :jump

This is great to hear! :bigups All the sponsors and product suppliers here at DC and PAC provide top notch service!

I had an issue last year and Aaron went ABOVE and BEYOND. Really fantastic customer service. Aaron is all about making sure the customer is satisfied with his product.

Sprayaway makes a spray glue product if the velcro breaks loose on your pads. I have some and it works well.

Yeah, he is a stand up guy. Apparently the pad I had was some of the first Edge did for the PC and the glue has been since changed. He sent a replacement with no questions asked. In fact, he even replaced a white one that I have that is starting to lose the backing. Great company, great product!

hello all,
new to the site, ive just became interested in detailing and have learned so much from this site already. i was going to ask for advice on which pads to buy (dont have a pc yet, but will within a week) due to the fact i have not read much on which pads or better, last longer, quality issues, etc. i have answered my own question after reading the reply made by the guy which i have attached to the bottom of my post. customer service to me outweighs price everytime. i will by my pads from edge, no doubt about it, now all i have to do, is figure out which ones i will need, lol. i have light to medium swirls on my car, 2000 Mustang GT, performance red.. i also have the typical minor paint chips in the front. all in all, it looks good (to me) for a five year old. there are way too many quality products to choose from, i have read alot about Mazerna, Poorboys and 3m. i need a swirl remover, a finishing polish and possibly a new/better sealnt, ive only been using AIO topped with Wollfgang sealant. i was leaning toward Mazerna, they seem to have alot of good reviews and following. could someone critique my plan:
wash-clay-IP-FPII-AIO-sealant. will the aio negate the finish of FPII?
i plan to do this entire process every other month, with a wash/pure carnuba in between. thanks for any input in advance.

I'll try to help . Some pad ideas to add to your detailing arsenal , the blue polishing pad , green light cut pad . 2 of the most used pads . Product wise you have some good ones already . If you added IP and FPII to the lineup your set . AIO has some cleaning properties so yes it would negate your FPII. I'm not very familiar with the Mazerna line so maybe somebody could enlighten the both of us . Good luck
