Edge 2000 8' pads - use with a PC?

Hi everyone, I know you use the 6" Edge 2000 with the pc, but what about the 8"? I realise that they are best for rotary use, but has anyone used them with the DA polishers, and why/why not? What would be the issues?

I got a great deal on them, but since I am still getting comfortable with my pc, I did not plan to get a rotary any time soon. Thanks again.

There's too much surface area in the 8" pads to make them effective for use with the PC. As you increase the pad size, the additional weight of the larger pad and especially the added surface friction will slow down the PC to the point where it won't be as effective as when using a 6" pad (less work area per unit area from an 8" pad vs. a 6" pad) . Going down to a 4" pad reduces pad weight and friction, which increases the work per unit area, thus making the PC even more effective / agressive when compared to the 6" pads.

exactly what holland_patrick said above. According to aaron, the 6in pads are glued using a different type of glue compared to the 8in pads. The glues on the 6in pads have a higher bonding strength and are made for PC. Wherelse the 8in pads are made for rotary and the glues used have a lesser bonding strength and using them on a PC will have a tendency for the pads to separate.
