Works well on polished stainless tailpipes. If you have an ultra-fine mirror finish on a finer metal, find something else, but for raw polished stainless it works fine.
The chemicals in it as well as the raw cotton tend to dissolve and grab dirt/grime/small amounts of tar pretty well.
I'd suggest that you clean them the best you can and get most of the tar with a rag and another product first.
NeverDull leaves a nice high polished finish and has very good protective qualities as well.
Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish would also be a nice alternative as well. Leaves a slightly higher shine, but doesn't seem to have as good a cleaning ability.
