E36 M3 - Detailing Technology

Its BMW week. 2 M3's and a Z8.



This coupe has about 70k on it. Very well maintained by the owner.

Opti-Seal on Wheels

1z Einszett Cockpit for the interior

Fk425 on the glass/tint

Optimum Metal Polish for the exhaust

Optimum Opti-Bond for the tires





Car came out very glossy. I really like what a last step of EZ Creme Glaze does to the finish.

Jeff - How are you and your 6 doing?



I cleaned the engine with Optimum Power Clean diluted at about 4:1 with water. Just sprayed and scrubbed with a Swisswax wheel brush. I towel dry so there is no spotting and do not use any dressing. For the strut towers, I polished them by hand with Optimum Poli-Seal. Poli-Seal has a butane scent to it, I cleans these flat under hood finishes well and leaves a little protection and shine.



The wheels I was mixed on. I tried Brown Royal on the first 2 and Optimum Power Clean on 2. I expected a lot more from Brown Royal. From the YouTube videos, I was under the impression it was able to melt a nuclear reactor. It works well, but not worth maintaining yet another wheel product in the mix. I'll likely use Power Clean at various dilutions on all wheels this season. For really abused wheels, I still use Poorboy's Spray & Rinse, 5 years running.



As you see through the spokes, the Brown Royal didn't dissolve anything that I didn't scrub with a brush. This car is not a daily driver, this was not difficult to remove.

Your work is very distinctive for sure. Nice collection of cars to detail. We are great. Sold the 6er because we had a daughter and bought a 2000 540 which is a beast. The M Coupe is still in Santa Fe, and I do try to maintain this to your standards although fail short on a consistent basis.

Congratulations. I had twin just over a year ago. That Gen 540 is awesome, first time I drove one I could not believe the braking power. I'd love to find one of the 540 wagons in that gen, hot car!

Yes, the e39 540 rocks. I once drove an M5 e39 and thought that when I test drove the 540 I was going to be very disappointed only to be proven way wrong. Ours is completely M packaged with sport everything and can toast almost any car on the road. It is wonderful. Congrats on your twins. Fatherhood has totally changed my outlook on the world in the most profound sense.

Can't wait to have some detailing time this summer in Santa Fe. Should I try some of your products listed above over your original recipe of Zaino stuff? I have been happy with all of that but might like a change. I am using a Flex DA...
