dusty car

Man, that's shiny!
Maybe I'm going bonkers. I've had a lot of vehicles with dark paint, but this one seems to be a dust magnet. I wash it and even from sitting in the garage the thing is covered, and I mean covered in dust. If I wash it and then drive for the day it looks like it's been through a rain storm.

Is there any treatment to anti-static a vehicle? I've checked the ground and it seems to be grounded properly to the chassis. :wall

I've been using Megs products for the past 30 years or so and have never had this problem. Since this is a brand new car with minimal swirls in it, I try to use #9 swirl remover a couple of times a month and use #6 polish the rest of the time. It doesn't matter if I apply it with a polisher or by hand.

My theory is that it doesn't have a darn thing to do with the finish product. Some cars are not grounded as well as others, probably due to the frame/suspension mounts. And, no, I'm not going to try static straps. :hah

Although one idea to test this theory of mine would be to do the waxing and hook the car up to the ground of the house for the night and see what happens.

Of course, alternative polish suggestions are welcome.

theory or not...grounding your car to your house, in an effort to minimize dust attraction is one of the wildest post I have read in sometime.

I really have no suggestions as I have not experienced this, other than one product attracted more dust than another, so I swithced and used another product line. Problem solved.

Best wishes and luck to you.

This was my cat's reaction to the idea. I guess I'll switch brands and see how that works. Thanks for the input!

What kinda tires do you have? I recall reading something about Michelin low rolling resistance tires producing lots of static. :dunno
Car Guys column is one reference to it.

We have a winner! I do indeed have Michelin resistance tires. Isn't that something. Maybe I'll have to drag chains behind the car or something.
