Duragloss/Zaino/Optimum - which one ?

I'm looking for some new wax/sealant for the summer. Actually I found out that sealant look appeales to me more than natural wax look. So I consider 3 options:

1.Optiseal

2.Duragloss - dont know which one, 105,111 or Track Claw ?

3.Zaino Z2

Thing is, I was convinced to Z2, but dont want to buy whole system($$$), only sealant. Question is, will the Z2 + Z8 which I already have give the famous "Zaino look" ? Process would be IPA wipedown,Z2,Z8. I dont care for durability as it's summer and I can reapply as often I want.

Or Opti-Seal and Duragloss will match Zaino in terms of look ? I just think that Zaino is pinnacle of sealants, as Swissvax or Zymol are the pinnacle of waxes, that's why I was so convinced to it, but maybe I was wrong, enlight me :)

For all round performance without confusion or risking durability - Duragloss IMO.

105 and 111 are a breeze to use and remove, and will outlast Optiseal OCW and will protect(not just look) better than zaino.

You could also grab the 501 with is a polish/surface cleaner with a really nice sealant in it and go over the surface before applying your 105 or 111. I really like 501 topped with either of these 2(105 being, I think more cost effective with awesome durability)

Otherwise 105 on its own will be awesome.

For several years I used Zaino on my car and DG 105 on the wife's truck. The look is similar, although maybe just a bit more pop with the Zaino. I noticed the 105 seemed to hold up just a bit better through our Iowa winters with mega salt and multiple touchless car washes with very strong presoaks.

I'm now using DG 501 (more cleaner) in the spring following the tough winters, and will apply 111 in the fall for winter protection. I'm using this process now for both vehicles. My understanding, from the DG people, is the sealant is the same for 105, 111 and 501. The only difference is the amount of cleaner.

I should also add that the DG seems less finicky on application than the Zaino, and I will supplement with DG Aquawax throughout the summer.

I have NO experience with the Optiseal.

I've used all three. The results are of course subjective but:

Zaino-Never impressed with the system and the amount of effort to do all the steps. The final product is not any better than the other two below.

Duragloss-Very durable and excellent results as far as reflection. The clarity might be a little plastic like but ok. I still use it on the Grand Cherokee.

Optimum- Is the best wax I've used to date. It produces a warm natural reflection and clarity like no other. Down side not as durable as Duragloss.

Thanks guys for response, this is really helpful.

Considering Duragloss, is there any major difference between all their sealants in terms of look ? I guess I need pure sealant, as I have separate cleaner, so it will be 105 or Track Claw.

While I have note used Duragloos or the Optimum Opti-Seal, I have never been that impressed with Zaino either. Zaino leaves a good shine but other sealants are on par and much much slicker!

I am new here but have always used 111 and found it really easy to use and really good shine. It always made the car easier to clean. For whatever its worth I usually buy my stuff at Carquest they have a few Duragloss products and cleaners which are really inexpensive but really nice.

One thing I never understood about Zaino and Duragloss is why they call their stuff polishes. I thought polishes were things to eliminate swirls but these are just waxes, right?

Duragloss 111 lacks pop on dark colors. 105 might be the better choice. IME Zaino lasts longer than Duragloss but Duragloss is no slouch. Z2pro is highly reflective if you like a coated in glass look.

DG111 on lighter colors

DG105 on darker colors

Optiseal if you wax ever 2-3 months and prefer ease of use

OCW if you want easy and the look of a carnauba wax

Zaino if you want to spend more money

I have the whole Zaino line, and I have found that I could get the look and protection I wanted with basically Z-AIO,Z-6 & Z-8.

I like Z-2, but if you have high humidity in your area it can be a PITA to remove. Yeah, it may add to the look if you want to do many, many coats, but I prefer not spend all weekend doing this anymore. :D

DG goes on and comes off great and is not temperamental. OCW is very, very easy to use. Spray & wipe on, buff off.

Opti-seal is pretty good, but I haven't used it in a while.

Here's another one to consider.. Blackfire Wet Diamond. While it's a sealant it kinda has a caranuba look to it.. imo It's the slickest product I've used, and goes on and comes off very easy.

This is what I'm using now over all the one's you've mentioned.

It should be mentioned that Duragloss is available over the counter in most areas and the others have to be ordered, I personally prefer optimun

After using Zaino, DG and Optimum, and selling/trading them away - I agree with the person that said try Blackfire Wet Diamond. It's the best all round sealant.

AW is stupid easy to use and great results. I'll buy a gallon next time direct.

I like 501 also. Quality product.

The leather shampoo is really nice.

The Car Wash is the best out there.

The Detailer and Bug remover are awesome also. (bought gallons of both direct)

$5 shipping is crazy cheap.

Optiseal, I'm still trying it out. Got it on my Mazda after Poli-Seal and it's not a bad look. Still working on not using so much during application. I might top it with 3m Performance Finish in a month since I like the wetness that gives.

Thank's for all advices ! However, Blackfire stuff is out of my range now, we dont have it here in Poland, and shipping costs would double the price and I cant afford it.

I guess I will head towards DG 105 or Track Claw then.

how long would these sealants lasts on average?

Blackfire Wet Diamond

Duragloss 105 / 111

Zaino Z-2 / Z-5

Optimum Opti-Seal

If I want a sealant that lasts long and looks decent, which one should I get?

thanks

If you are talking about water beading then:

Blackfire Wet Diamond 3-4 months

Duragloss 105 / 111 4+ months

Zaino Z-2 / Z-5 6+ months

Optimum Opti-Seal 3-4 months

However water beading and paint protection are not the same thing. BFWD in my experience has protected the paint the longest, it stays slick for longer than any of the above products.
