Duragloss QD (521) Rediscovered

Last year, I tried DG 521 and was really impressed. At about the same time, I have been reading on Autopia-popular QD's and ordered a gallon of FK425. I liked this one too although here in Phoenix, AZ, I haven't really found FK425's anti-static ability useful. Dust here is terrible. FK425 gives me slickness and high gloss.

I ran out of FK a few days ago and came across my old bottle of DG 521. I used it this morning and decided that this is really an exceptional QD. I think I got caught up in buying boutique products that I forgot that there is a great QD at a Carquest a couple of miles away. DG 521 provided outstanding slickness and better yet, it gives my solid black car depth and a warm glow - very similar to Optimum Instant Detailer minus the streaking.

Compared to FK425, DG is slicker. Don't get me wrong. FK425 has become a favorite of mine through one year of use but DG 521 is at par with FK - just a different look.

To those who have used DG 521 or FC&S, what are your thoughts?

Big fan as well. 521 is the amped up marine version of 921. Very slick, excellent cleaning ability (use it to wipe down wheels too). Also mix 1-2 oz of AW in 30 oz bottle of 521. Great combo!

With regards to 425 and OID, I tend to lean towards to OID concentrate and mix 4-1 water to QD. No streaking at all.

As you can see I'm a QD junkie.

I love DG 521. Used it on the limo job I posted here earlier. No residue left behind, no streaking, and does what it's supposed to do, better than other QDs I have tried.

I too love FC&S...it just really can't be beat when you judge all the variables. Sure some QD’s may do certain things better, but FC&S does everything exceptionally. Throw in price and availability and there’s no reason in my mind to look elsewhere.

Plus, I LOVE the smell. Reminds me of being young again at the pool or shore and young betties running around covered in suntan oil. Ahhh….to be a teenager again.

521 is a very good QD. The one thing I really like about 425, however, is how well it works on glass.. always streak-free. 521 works well on glass too, but I think 425 is a bit better.

As far as appearance on paint, I think 521 gives a bit more gloss than 425.
