Duragloss 105 after 5 months (picture)

Well, I must say.....I wasn't too pleased with the looks of DG105 when I applied it last september....but this is pretty amazing to me. The paint looks amazing still considering it hasn't been waxed/sealed in 5 months. It's still really slick and beads really well. Oh.....it has been outside in the snow/ice/grime all winter too. I let the wife have the garage (to haul our baby around) and the durability isn't even phased.

Side note....she get's QD'd with Last Touch after each wash. However, this happens with all my washes and different waxes and none come even close to this kind of durability and lasting looks. I don't know how anybody could argue that it is not an LSP with results like these.

It's raining like crazy, so I'll try to get some beading shots if it lets up tomorrow.

What didn't you like at first?

I'm with the OP I didn't like the looks of 105, it's too flat, no depth really, not overly bright, just not spectacular in the looks dept. I have never gotten complements on the car with just 105 on it, yet it gets complements all the time with just AW, or FMJ, or even IW.

However, it is durable as hell! I too have a black car that gets driven 60 miles a day through the worst Cleveland area slop and it was still going strong as of last weekend (from before thanksgiving) when I threw another coat at it out of boredom. Amazingly potent stuff.

Well, I didn't like the looks of it at first. I was using Meguiars 21 + 26 and used to the wet deep pool that I'd get with that combo. I threw on 105 for the winter so I could get better durability and I wasn't impressed with the looks. However, it does look really good, and better than any other OTC product I've used (not counting 26), so it's definately an incredible product.

I'll still use 105 on my wife's car year round and on mine only in the winter. I'll probably go back to my M21 + M26 combo when it warms up. When it's nice out, I enjoy giving her a wax every month or two so I'm not worried about the lesser durability. Plus I seem to polish the car every 2-3 months (in warmer months) to get rid of the small, unavoidable swirls that appear on my soft Honda/Acura black.

Oh...DG105 will always be my go-to wax for other people's vehicles (like family and such). It really does look good and combined with it's durability it's hard to beat.....plus it will keep me from having to re-do family's vehicles every 3 months.

I was going to snap a picture when I got to work of the beads, but what do you know.....it stopped raining on my way to work and the paint is so slick still that it was pretty much dry by the time I parked.

Duragloss won't look as wet as Megs since most Megs products have those "trade secret oils". But Duragloss should be more durable than Megs.

I did a 105 followed by Megs 21 2x , love the look . Nice for winter and actually been experimenting with the UQD and its not a bad combo.

I've noticed the exact same thing. I wasn't impressed at first with the appearance. I did both my vehicles in Oct. They still bead like crazy, and look great after a decent wash. I only have 1 coat of DG105 applied on top of DG101.

for Duragloss you would be better of to go with 101 precleaner followed by 601 epoxy then #111 sealant.

The 101 would provide depth the #111 provide brightness then maintain with Aquawax and the QD.

That looks great after 5 months. It's good to see since I did my car with 601, 2 coats of 105 and topped it with AW. Guess I should be good for a while.
