Durable Sealent for Black

I need help in deciding between Poorboy's EX, Wolfgang, and Four Star Ultimate for use as a sealent on Black. Which is the most durable and last the longest? Are there any advantages to one over the others? Thanks!

For durability, I would doubt you would want to use WG. Personally, I like AIO + SG x2 + EX + Nuba' topper (most likely #26, Natty's, or Souveran)

The AIO + SG will be most durable of all. As far as I know, Nuba's aren't really made to be durable, but EX does a hell of job IMHO

if all those are layered, doesn't it mute the effect of the souveran? if not, im gonna do that tommmrow.

I use Vm+EX topped with Souveran all the time. It give a ery deep and wet look that (IMHO) looks GREAT!

Not ever looking for durability on my black car, but VM, WG x2 and Souveran look really good, as does VM, Ex with Carnuba and Souveran. WG just has the edge looks wise, currently on WG x 3 and about to top.

Clearkote Carnuba Moose Wax also looks good as a cheaper alternative to Souveran.

For out and out durability Z2 Pro looks good on Black, not a Zaino user myself but do a search for some threads and pics on here using it - makes cars look paint shop fresh. Suppose you could then top that with some Souveran for the carnuba warmth look, At a guess thats what I would do as thats the look I prefer. Others prefer Zainos look un molested.

Like others have stated the inbetween stage berween WG or EX and Zaino would be AIO and SG topped with carnuba. I tried this combo and didnt really get the look I wanted. As my car lives in the garage and is a weekend play thing the extra protection didnt really appeal.

Of the three, I think EX w/carnauba is going to give you the best balance of appearance and durability. Wolfgang has a terrific look but some people have had durability issues with it. UPP is pretty durable and super slick but I think it looks a bit too shiny and plasticky on black (but awesome on silver and pearls). EX has the deep carnauba look and I get an easy 4 months durability (based on beading and slickness) with it. The slickness seems to hold very well too. I just washed an X5 today that I polished with #80 and topped with EX 3 weeks ago and the paint still had excellent slickness.

I understand that Steve (Poorboys) is in process to change EX w/ carnauba's current formula. Do you know or understand the change? Is it due to VOC's? Or product formulation improvement?

He says it is a product improvement.

Thanks for all of the replies. HumSki or Scottwax do either one of you know when the new EX is suppose to be realesed? I was looking at buying some EX, but if there will be any kind of improvement made I guess the smart thing to do would be to wait.

Not to incite a riot or anything, but if durability is your main concern, you should look into getting Zaino. :)

RULE # 1: Do anything that Scottwax recommends!! ( have you seen his work? It's impeccable! The man speaks the truth! )

Rule # 2: Zaino is a top notch product.

Rule # 3: Never be afraid to experiment!

Thanks guys! I have used Zaino for a long time and I really liked it, but now I am due for a change and want to try something different. I think this time around I will use the EX as a follow up to IP and FPII. If I like the way it looks I might end up topping it with Natty's Paste Wax.
