Durable, long-lasting carnauba?

On Thursday I bought a 2003 BMW 325i - in Jet Black. Like everyone here, I want to keep the car looking nice, but living in Chicago and parking on the street means the car is going to need protection. Can someone recommend a long-lasting carnauba wax, preferably something slippery enough to make a quick wipe-down easy?

Durable, long-lasting carnauba?

Somewhat of an oxymoron, but many here claimd that Meg #16 is quite durable, especially when washed between waxing with QEW.

I tried #16 but removed it before any durability data could be obtained.

Prior to switching to the Klasse twins I settled on Griots Best of Show Wax and pretty much decided that I would stay with it, like I said until Klasse came along.

I found it best, by far, than all the others I had tried, Mequiars, Mothers and way better than Zymol, though I did not try the super expensive variants.

Since this post is in the Autopia University forum, and you have only 10 posts, I'm going to assume you're relatively new to this.

I'm certainly no expert, but from lurking 'round these parts, I've learned that the concensus seems to be that wax is not "durable" protection. Rather, sealants are the way to get long-lasting protection.

I live in Phoenix, where we have weeks of 110ºF+ days. I'm using the Klasse twins on my '05 300C.

Try #26. It will last just as long as if not longer than #16 (According to GuruReports) and I think it will give more depth on a black car. You can also pick it up at any Autozone. Like you mentioned before, #16 has been discontinued and it is starting to get harder to find it.

I second the Collinite 476S. It's durability is legendary for a carnauba. Although not considered a beauty wax by most, many Autopians have shown you can have great looks with it and lasting protection. I had it last from Thanksgiving thru late Feb. until I intentionally stripped it to try Optimum's Spray Wax.

I've only used Meg's #16 and damn this thing holds up quite well in this hot S. Florida weather. #16 is still available at www.pakshak.com I picked mine up 5 cans from SM but they are already out. 1 can can last you for over a year easy by the way.

Collinite #476 or#845 are the most durable carnubas.

Does anyone have information on this products melting point. (I tried contacting the given e-mail address on their website and it came back as unobtainable)

I got 5 months out of Natty's on my Uncle's car. Not sure how it lasted so long, but it did! I only applied one coat 5 months ago and it was still beading very well.

I've had great durability with both Meg's #16 and Collinite 476S. I dunno about doing "wipe downs", though, sounds like a prescription for marring. Between the two waxes, I'd go with the Meg's #16 (while you can ;) ), which should last a few months. But I've had the 476S last all through a tough Ohio winter and then some.

TOGWT- Give 'em a call. They're not too great about returning e-mails, but they *are* great guys to talk with on the phone.

If you *do* call, you might also ask how they're coming with the new VOC-reg-friendly formulations.

Thanks Accumalator I will call them as I'm intersted to know if there is any polymer in with 'mix'as well as it's melting point

:xyxthumbs Nice guys. Very honest and helpful.

Collinite by far is the most durable carnauba when compared to #16 and Blitz. I use all three. There's no comparison. I used Blitz today!
