Duplicate Meguiar's Products

Does anyone know what the difference is in Meg's 3 & 7? What about Meg's Quick Detailer & Meg's 34? They're making me crazy!!! Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks,

They claim Quik Detailer is not body shop safe while FI #34 is. Might really be so similar the differences aren't significant. FI does come in gallon sizes and I really like that. Quik Detailer does have the best misting spray bottle in the business IMO though.

Thanks Bill! I forgot that FI was silicone free. What do you think about the glazes? Are they virtually the same product as well?

I don't use glazes so I really can't say but two other Meg products : MPPC and Body Scrub, I think are going to be scrapped due to VOC regulations, are so similar, I couldn't tell which is which if you put them side by side in unmarked bottles. Meguiars told me that one or the other, I think Body Scrub, is slightly more abrasive but I didn't buy that claim. I'm not a fan of selling two identical/insignificantly different products, just seems deceptive. Meguiars certainly doesn't have to resort to such tactics.

There all different. From what I read from Mike Phillips, Meg's #3 turns white while #7 just skins. Both essentially do the same thing. I agree that there are many overlapping products, but they are all different. You've got to admit that there's not much that they've left out.

Overlapping products? I'll say.... I just had a thread the other day here at DC regarding the overlapping lines as Meguiar's has thier regular line of products, the NXT line, a professional line and a detailer's line of products! I was really confused regarding product selection from Megs...

It sounds like you and I would much better prefer Meguiars produce (as it does) the most premium product in each category and sell that to everyone and anyone. No need for these "consumer level" products. Would probably be more economical for them as well. :dunno

You just hit the nail on the head! It would be nice to be able to look at the Meg's product line and know for sure which product is the professional. Even their reps at car shows aren't sure half the time!

#66 was originally a thick pink cream. Friend and I have a 1 gallon container of it from 1987
Current #66 is better than 34 but not as good as old #66

I'm not a user of meguiars anymore, have found, use and about to sell a whole new world of non VOC or compliant detailing products, most of which are autopian top shelf quality.
