As you can see in my sig below it's a 1996 Toyota Tacoma.

I know plenty about cars and trucks, that is except anything when it comes to paint.:( :nixweiss

So how do I know?

Thanks

I can almost guarantee that a truck of that vintage has a clearcoat paint job. But to test, find an inconspicuous place (like inside a door jamb) and rub on a little polish or mild abrasive, something that would clean paint. If the paint color shows on the applicator you have a single-stage non-clearcoat paint job. If nothing shows on the app you have a clearcoat paint job.

Take a polish, swirl remover or cleaner wax (something with light abrasive in it) and rub it on your paint. (Choose an inconspicuous spot first) if any "color" comes off onto your applicator with aggressive rubbing then you do not have clearcoat. If you do have clearcoat color will never come off onto the rag. (Well, unless you rub for a long, long, long, time!;) )
