I am looking to buy a dry steamer for home and automotive use. Exactly what is the steamer good for? My first priority is to clean fabrics indoors, but how about for the caR?

Obviously the carpets, but what else can i clean with it? leather seats? wheels? etc. etc.

also, what are the best brands or models?

TIA.

Dry steamer? Some of the steamers I'm aware of are Shark and Steam Buggy. I have the steam buggy and it drips quite a bit before it builds up steam. I have used in on my engine, wheels, glass and to remove license plate decals. I'm also pleased with how it works around the home and to remove wrinkles from clothes

I have one on my Xmas list. Am looking forward to trying it around the house etc. I have thought about using it to clean parts of the engine bay but am unsure. NE1 else use it for that???

Darned if I know. I got a free Eureka model a while ago and ended up giving it away. 100% :down It would faintly move easily disolved dirt around, but that was it. A sponge was far more effective.

My steamer worked well on my engine, the steam seems to loosen the grime up then you have to wipe it away with a cloth or sponge. I tried using a damp cloth and sponge by themselves, they couldn't remove the heavy stuff, lighter stuff was no problem but the heavy stuff needed the steamer to loosen it up first.

I use one that I bought second hand on overstock.com for $12.00.

Brand new it was $100.

I use it on the interior for trouble spots on vinyl and plastic and in door jambs.

I use distilled water. It works great especially around the kick plates and bottom of the door for those tough scuff marks.

I use with a little Meguiars #39.

If you are a diyer I don't see the need for a $800 + one. $12 used at overstock.com! Wow! Didn't know they had second hand stuff too. I looked at some of their stuff in general ,seemed to be decent prices.

But the lady on QVC cleans her car hub caps, her outdoor grille, then her toilet, then she sprays her toothbrushes because it "sanitizes" and why not, then she does the microwave. :( All with the same brush.
