DP Microfiber Cleaner Concentrate. Not too impressed.

I thought I'd pick some of this up. Autogeek had it for buy 1 get 1 free.

I used it last night on a small load of my towels. All blue and

I didn't think they were too bad. Had some real dirty spots from my wheels and some dust from doing a QD. I followed the directions exactly,

including soaking them for 15 to 20 minutes.

4 out of the 8 towels still looked pretty dingy and had some fade where the dirt use to be. Not sure how else to explain that.

I won't buy it again. But it does save me from using the family detergent.

Thats a bummer. I got it on bogo too but my package isnt coming till monday. How much of it did you use? Did you wash it in a small load?



Im really surprised that I havent never seen a review on different microfiber detergents vs normal washing detergents. Do you think that using your house hold clothes detergent would have yielded better results?
 
Have you used products in the past that worked better on stains? It sounds like you had been using normal clothing detergent and tried DP thinking it would clean better.



You can do a test and wash them again using the regular wash detergent.



I find DP does clean well (as any normal detergent) but seems to rinse cleaner and does not have additives like some regular laundry soaps (brighteners, etc).
 
Regular cycle warm wash, cold rinse.

I didn't have much expectations on it.

Son's clothes. I'm thinking maybe it was too

Diluted. I had it on medium load and not small.
 
Or you could use a mixture of boiled Distilled Water, Washing Soda, and Borax. Dissolved in the boiling water, and then allowed to cool, and transfered to a old clean liquid detergent bottle. Works great for me. Removes old wax, dirt, polish, etc and doesn't harm the towels.
 
I use Sonus washing liquid, especially made for car cloths. Gets all but the worst stains off, at 30 degrees in the washing machine. No softener! They come out as plush as they were new.

agreed (if there are some dirty spots i'll pre-treat with some APC). i use very little detergent (in warm water) as they are so concentrated these days and i don't want it to foam up too much (also don't want too much residue in the towels) as well. then i also add about 4-5 ounces of vinegar in the final rinse cycle with an extra rinse cycle to boot (also i move up the water level a tad more). then i take each towel out and give them a quick snap, and then into the dryer on the lowest heat setting (of course with no fabric softener/dryer sheet)... :2thumbs:
 
I think you are suppose to leave it soak for a long time so it can actually work. I use Micro Restore. What I do is get a 5 gallon bucket and put 2 ounces of Micro Restore, leave it there for a week, then take it out and put it in the washer machine. Works everytime. But still have problems with linting for some reason.
 
I lightly mist my towels with OPC 3:1, wash in warm water with Micro Restore and sometimes do a second rinse with vinegar. If the towels are really nasty, I'll hand wash it first with a heavy dose of OPC and a little bit of regular soap. I'll repeat this until they stop shedding black water when I wring them. I then put it in with my other towels and wash like normal. OPC does a great job of breaking down all the gunk that's trapped on the towels.



GS4- Could it be that the fibers are starting to break down and release from the towels because of the amount of time that you soak them in the MR?

Oh snaps. You probably have solved my mystery. How long can you actually leave it soaked? I got some plush and multipurpose MF in the same bucket. What is your advice on this? I appreciate it.
 
The amount of suds will tell you if you're using enough.



I haven't tried the DP; I have the Pinnacle microfiber detergent and it seems to work fine. Vinegar in the first rinse as others have mentioned. I run wheel and jamb towels through a prewash cycle with an ounce or two of Megs Wheel Brightener, works great!
