door bumper guards

Hello all,

I drive a 2-year-old Subaru Impreza that is in pretty excellent shape EXCEPT for the emergence of light door dings all on the passenger side, (where drivers parked to my right open their doors). These dings are driving me crazy, and I've tried various methods of parking my car, but at a school campus it's impossible to have much control over parking. I keep imagining that the dings will just increase over time, so now I'm considering getting those rubber strips that run along the doors as a bumper guard. I don't want it to look tacky. Are there any good choices out there for these door strips? Or are they pretty much all the same? (I don't think Subaru makes any factory versions.)

I've seen some retractable door guards in some of the car magazines that you can hang on the side of the car when parked and remove and store when not in use. I don't know how secure they are from theft though.

I'd check with your dealer. They may have some dealer installed option that will look good.

Nothing that I know of yet :( I tried these things called dingme-nots, they are horrible, can scratch the paint and are basically homemade strips someone put together in their garage and sells. There was another post in the summer about similar ding protection strips but they didn't seem appealing either. Also, I seriously doubt any thing availible is theft proof :( This is definitely a situation still without an effective solution

Let us know if you come across something.
