Does Zaino have a cleaner?

Please don't blast me for this....

I've read just about every thread on Zaino and Blackfire. But I still am unclear about a couple of things.

1.) Does Zaino (Z5 or Z2) have a cleaner in the polish? I've seen all the talk about preparing the paint with clay, etc. I'm not up to claying my car yet. I know it's probably very safe, but there's something about dragging a chunck of abrasive across my first black car that scares the devil out of me!! That being said, would I have to use a paint cleaner (I've got some 3M IHG) before applying Z5 or Z2? Is Z1 the cleaner (If I buy I'd love to get Zfx to speed things up)

2.)Does anyone else use 3M Show Car Wax. That's what I'm using so far and it ain't too bad. What kind of durability have others got out of this?

Thanks for any help. I would like to order my stuff this week but I've gotta answer that first question before I do.

<em class='bbc'>No, there is no cleaners of any kind in Zaino. You want to get the paint as close to perfect as you can before you apply. I used Z clay and 3m SMR:)[/i]

Zaino contains no abrasives, silicones or oils. As Redcar Guy suggested, use good paint prep products before you ever apply the Zaino. Do NOT use 3M IHG before applying Zaino unless you do a DAWN wash to remove the IHG. Zaino will not bond over the oils in glaze products. If you need to pre-clean the paint, I'd suggest any one or a combination of these: PPCL. P21S PCL, 3M SMR #39009, or a Meguiar's paint cleaner. IHG is not really a paint cleaning product, and most don't ever need to use it with Zaino.

No, Zaino does not have any cleaning agents in its polish. Claying cannot be replaced just by using a cleaner on your paint. Embedded surface contaminants can only be removed either through the use of clay or a strong abrasive....and I'm sure you wouldn't want to use a strong abrasive on your car just yet. I would highly recommmend claying your car. There really isn't anything to be scared about. Just be sure to use plenty of lubricant and use very light pressure with the clay. Just let it glide across your paint.

If you're still a bit apprehensive about using clay, look into ABC from autoint.com. It's a paint prep product that does a good job of removing paint contaminants, wax, & sealants and (in most cases) negates the need for the clay+dawn wash steps.

Also, if your car has any surface imperfections like swirls or scratches, remove them with a light abrasive like 3M SMR (followed by another wash) prior to applying Zaino. 3M IHG has some cleaning solvents in it and is an excellent product to use prior to applying a wax like 3M Show Car Wax, but it will not remove swirls and is generally incompatible with polymer sealants.

Z-1 is called the pre-lock cleaner but has very little cleaning ability. It's main function is to allow the Zaino polish to bond properly to your paint. Don't get both Z-1 and ZFX....just get one or the other.

I've used it and although it provides a nice shine, I wasn't able to get too much durability out of it. Probably 4 weeks at the most.

Thanks for the comments. I'm just not willing (nor able) to spend that much time (separate cleaner and the zaino layers) on my car. So I'll rule out zaino.:( Leaves me with Blackfire and Klasse. Since the car is an outdoor dweller, and both the Blackfire Polish and Klasse AIO have cleaning and the ability to hide slight scratches, I'm sorta leaning towards Klasse. Anyone have any experience with both products on a Black car? (I read all the BF and Klasse threads too, but no one seems to own a black vehicle) Could it be everyone was smarter than me an didn't buy black???:)

I've detailed my car with Zaino and my parents' van with Klasse.

I like Zaino more. It was easy to apply and remove. Klasse was a pain to remove though. Remember, with each layer, you get more depth and gloss.

Come on, you know you want to be an autopian!

I spent a total of 9 hrs on my car in 45 degree weather:

I've used all three products on a black car. On an outdoor dweller, I wouldn't recommend Blackfire because it has very poor durability (worse than a carnauba).

If you are looking to use a one-step product, then Klasse AIO would probably be the easiest. But it isn't going to last you 6 months like advertised. I would definitely recommend using Klasse SG on top of it. Of the three, Zaino seems to stay slick and shiney the longest. However, on a black car, I prefer the look of Klasse (with SG).

If your time is limited then Zaino is probably the way to go. It will take a little a time to prep, BUT it will outlast all the rest. Once applied your car will be easier to maintain.

A long time ago, a member wondered why some contamination was removed when he applied the Z-1. It turns out that Z-1 <em class='bbc'>does[/i] contain (or did contain) some cleaners in it... but they're really mild making it recommended to do proper paint prep.

Try using a damp microfiber towel to remove the excess, dried Klasse. Then follow up with a dry one. Many people have had sucess using it this way.

Good luck!
