Does This Sound OK?

For the past four months, I've been using Meguiars soap with #7 topped with # 26. Washed every week, # 26 every 2 weeks, # 7 every 4 weeks. I just picked up a jar of S100 wax last night. $20.00, not bad since the place usually carries products a lot higher than usual, so $5.00 wasn't bad. I'm wondering now if I should Dawn wash, follow with #7 and then top with a coat of S100? Would that be fine? Or should I just use the #7 and S100 without the Dawn wash? I've never used a paste wax before. Should I just get my Terry Cloth, and dip a small part of it in the tub and then just apply, and buff off with a MF? How long do you recommend waiting before I buff it off? All comments and suggestions welcome! I'm really looking forward to using S100!

Hi,

I can only answer one Q:

no need to dawn wash: this is only needed prior to starting a Zaino treatment.

Can't help with the other products, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the right answers

I have found that you do not need to dawn wash your vehicle every time you want to wax it. As for combinations of the products you have mentioned, you can use S100 in any of the following ways:

Dawn wash and apply S100.

Wash with Meguiar’s soap and apply S100.

Wash with Meguiar’s soap, top with #7 and apply S100.

Wash with Meguiar’s soap, top with #7, top with #26 and apply S100.

I have used S100 in all of the above ways and some will give better results than others. I like S100 over #7 best from the above noted 4 ways of application.

I have applied the S100 with the small grey foam pad which comes with it and that works OK but I prefer to use a yellow Mequiar’s foam pad. Make sure which ever pad you use that it is moist (water) first as this helps to apply the S100 and spreads out a very little bit of wax over a large area. Wipe off with a MF towel as soon as you complete applying the wax to one area. Do one section/area at a time. You want to remove the S100 excess while it is still wet.

Happy waxing.

Wow, thanks a lot. I think I'm going to go with the Meguiars Soap w/ #7 followed by S100. I didn't know a pad came with it. I guess I'll use that. Once again, thanks a lot and I can't wait for another week and a half or so!

I also recommend using a round Megs pad instead (or anything similar - these things are pretty generic). The included pad seems kinda thin and wimpy to me, and the Megs pad gives you more to hang on to. Pads like these should be standard in any detailer's kit. :up

I'm not sure a Dawn wash would've completely removed the #26 anyway from what I've heard.

Just a quick comment.

There has been some discussion concerning the S100 pad deteriorating and leaving some residue in the S100. This seems to occur when the pad is stored in the S100 container. For the price of a good foam applicator, it didn't seem like it was worth taking any chances. I pitched my S100 pad.
