ordered from properautocare..

and wanted to know if the makita 9227 will come with the wrench to remove the face plate

if not, where can i get one ?

I need to remove my 6" flex backing plate from my 849 and place it on the 9227

thx

The Makita comes with a built-in tool ;) You depress the spindle-lock button, grap the plate, and turn said plate to remove/install. The spindle-lock eliminates the need for a wrench like the PC uses.

Dunno about the Dewalt but I'd be surprised if it needed a separate wrench.

When you buy a brand new in the box buffer, rotary or any power tool it should come with everything necessary to operate it or change pads. :buffing:

tumbler turning in your dewalt or just get an extra rotary

i know it the weight huh and tq hehe!!j/k

yup both previous post said it like a tool master

The Dewalt also has a lock button for the spindle. All of the quality machines have them and some of the cheap ones too.

thanks for help guys, its just i haven't looked underneath my 849 in quite some time, and normally don't as I'm always looking at pads and panels :D

djmigs- i'm going to be using the makita with my 7.5" pads and using my 849 with my 4" pads

yup, press the knob and it unscrewed like a charm..

now i have to decide if i really, really want to keep the 849..

I need to change my original backing plate for an LC one and tried to get the plate off by pressing that button and it's like rock, can't budge it

I lost the tool that came with it

Sounds like a trip to the repair shop might be in order. Or you could try putting some penetrating oil around the button but I dunno if you want oil around your rotary...
