does forever black really work ?

i have been messing around with my black window moldings with nxt and with ssr 1.0 , trying to shine them up and now they are as if finish came off. now i dont know if i actually removed some finish or what. i dont know if you can , its not painted :angry can you ruin the finish on what seems to be solid black moldings :nixweiss i thought it was solid black all the way through :nixweiss its not painted? so i called the dealer on new moldings and they olly come with the window:angry 800.00:shocked there are no aftermarket and i would assume the junkyards would be faded as well. i was wondering if anybody tried forever black ? and does it look natural ? or does it look like it was painted ? like i said my plastic is a smooth charcoal/blk look..
 
I tried it and it's not very good. I get really bad streaking with it. I tried several different times with this product and always get streaking.
 
isp ? do you mean rubbing alcohol ? i'm going to the dealer after work to have them look, over the phone they told me there should not be any finish to come off its suppose to be solid black plastic, i guess i'll see what they say. mabey there was a reaction with ssr1.0 on the plastic that will come off or they are ruined, i hope not i cant get new ones as they are 800 a piece with window :eek:
 
Sounds like these types of products : Trimonex : the cleaner and coating or the ETG kit from AutoInt could be helpful here.
 
Yea, Bill has suggested some great products but first try the alcohol. I did this with my black rubber window seals on my Ranger and it worked great.



The dealer guys are pretty much clueless and will more likely than not send it back to "make ready" and they will slather on some dressing to hide it.
