does customer service play a big role in your purchase(s)? we all know that our money is our voice these days, so i would like to hear from EVERYONE what else contributes to YOUR purchase (price, availability, fast shipping, etc)...

90% customer service

10% price

This is how I play it at this point in my life. While I dont like salesman BS overkill, and dont buy from women trying to use sex to sell, I really like to give someone money that is interested in earning it.

Be honest, and deliver what you say you will, and I will pay your price.

I think for me, to sum it up into one word, it would be HONESTY... a manufacturer or seller can be 2 weeks late shipping something, but if they're honest about it (I lost it, I had a death in the family, etc.. ) or at least try to apologize, they'll get my business again.

As far as customer service vs. price.. it's a 75/25 for me

Does customer service exist in this country anymore? I don't think it does. It's all about pleasing the shareholder, and nothing else matters. At least, that's the way I see most businesses being run nowadays...

From my experiences shopping online, Autogeek has great customer service... knowledgeable people who step up immediately if there's any problems...

Definately Ivan...In fact, I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Dwayne this morning. Great customer service.

Customer service is very important. Several places have lost my business because of terrible customer service.

One thing that irritates me to no end is when an employee is in the middle of my transaction and the manager starts talking to them. Excuse me, that can wait until I have made my purchase. Who hires these morons?

Customer service is probably 100% of my deciding factor in just about everything I buy. If I don't get good service I just move on.

I don't think it's all about one thing or another. There are many things that factors into why I would shop at one place or another and I don't necessarily look for the same thing in every transaction. Customer service is not everything though. Price plays just as big of a role for me.

Oh yeah, it matters a lot to me, far more than price. The way the folks at ..[the companies I patronize]... take care of me keeps me coming back. I even choose our *vehicles* based on how I'm treated by the businesses involved.

Oh, and I don't agree about companies only caring about their shareholders. Keeping the customers happy keeps the money coming in, and *that* is what makes this shareholder happy :D Companies that don't treat their customers right eventually suffer for it, and are thus, IMO, poor investments.

I'm kinda "on the fence" with this one :

I agree that Customer Service is a VERY important part of purchasing items, ie. if the Customer Services don't give two hoots about the Customer, then why bother giving THEM your money.

However ! If I'm being "buttered up" by some Customer Service person, before making my purchase, and the product I want is some ridiculously sky high price....well - a fool and their money are soon parted, so I'm off.

So, to sum it up : Yes, I'll look for a bargain - after all, who's gonna spend over the top for the same item in a Shop down the road. But if the Customer Service is absolutely diabolical, and they treat me like something they've dragged in on the sole off their shoe - I'd rather spend the little extra on the "respectable" Shop.

It's a 50/50 deal for me

The way I look at it, is building a friendship and Having great service. When they have a great services and staffs that understand what it takes to serve, Then you will see great business growing.

I work at a law firm and I order supplies so I deal with venders, how they try to buy you in or make you feel that you have to buy there things. No way, don't be pushy. I have this one vender who sells us tabs. The way he made it was, He became a friend, one who didn't have to be pushy, he was HONEST. Sometimes he cant make it on time, but he tells me the TRUTH. He even takes me out to lunch, just for doing business with him. And he doesn't have too.. But he knows now, that when you give a little then you will get back in return. (its better to give then to receive) Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to give very thing, no. But when you go a extra mile for your customers , then you will see the BLESSING on its way.

I been dealing with him over 8 years now. And other venders come my way and try to beat his prices. And I say no. Because in my heart he is a good friend and he's been good to the firm. Always giving me good prices!

Building a strong friendship is the way to go, in your business.

I know that in everything I do I give honor to my LORD. I'm not here to preach.

But no matter what you do in life its going to come back at YOU. So if you give attitude with your customers well, see if they come back or even get rude back at you. Just because you have your own business or supervise a large number of employees doesn't give you the right to talk down to them and make them feel badly about themselves. Quite the contrary. God is going to hold you accountable for what you say to those individuals under your authority or your Business. Go out of your way to speak positive words that build up and encourage.

(This is for me too, one day Lord willing I will have my own business) So I better do it right!

I see how some of you go the extra mile for your customers and I'm doing the same thing too. Because I know that detailing is a Business. And we have to do it right.

Proverbs 11:1

Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight.

My 2 cents.

Here is the vender BMW that he had me do.

Numero uno in my world. If Im turned off initially by poor customer service, I hit the highway. And I dont care how good of a deal it is (within reason). I just wont be going back to them. But as mentioned previously, if you can forsee future purchases for certain products, its best building a friendship. Its a two way street if you ask me. As a vendor, i dont/wont sell to people who are unfriendly or disrespectful.

But on the purchasing side, friendliness, and respect are mandatory. However, the seller should always attempt instigating it.

I'm going to go in a different direction from everyone so far and say it goes either way for me. It really depends on the product I'm buying. For obvious reasons, if it's something very simple and I know there is very little likelihood that I will need service, price is my deciding factor. Otherwise, if I'm buying large that may be serviced in the future, or if I'm buying something online, than customer service is at least 75% of my decision. These days, especially with the internet, most places aren't going to be very far apart in pricing, so it makes it easy to just pick whoever has the best service.
