Does anyone else have a "disgraced products" shelf?

I do; I just can't throw anything away, it seems. Most of this stuff is from before I discovered Autopia, when I was still looking for the truth on my own.

On my "disgraced products" shelf:

blue Zymol cleaner wax: short lived protection

"The Wax Shop" sealant glaze (actually a wax, though): same; the swirl remover is OK, though; not as good as 3M or Megs but it works

NuFinish

Black Magic Vinyl Protectant: too glossy

something called "Diamond Shield" carnuba paste: stinks to high heaven like kerosene, I never got the guts to actually put it on my car

Armor All foaming tire cleaner: actually, it's pretty good for the wheel wells.

Anyone else?

Turtle Wax Chrome Pollish -- I can't believe I was ever this stupid. :wall

Clearkote Vinyl/Tire Treatment -- Why did I not notice it's chock-full of petroleum distillates???

Armorall -- It was good enough for my daddy ..... :(

Fortunately, most of my big expenditures have occured since I discovered Autopia, so I haven't made so many stupid purchases since then.

Mosca, You start the thread and I have some of the same products.

The Wax Shop Super Glaze

Zymol Cleaner Wax

Meguiars Clear Coat Body Scrub

I don't really have any disgraced products. I used to have some Simoniz wax and some car wash stuff with "fomblin A" or something in it. But I left those at my parents house ages ago along with my Dad's ancient cans of Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound and Polishing Compound. Anything you have to open with a screwdriver is probably not worth it...

I too can't bring myself to pitch anything. I have some Gold Class Clear Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer or something that was supposed to be used prior to Gold Class Clear Coat Wax. They don't seem to sell it anymore. I don't really use my Gold Class Wax anymore. I have two bottles of Meg's Cleaner/Wax (definitely not the new stuff, one of them I'd probably need a punch and hammer to get it squirting again). I don't use that Super Shine Power Shine. It seems pretty solventy, seems to strip off whatever is under it, and doesn't seem to last long at all. Plus, it turns the applicators permanently chalky. I really don't use my #26 anymore, nor my Souveran (though I did put a coat on my sister's Bonneville). I rarely ever use my Klasse, except the occasional SG coat on my wheels. I use that Super Shine tire spray stuff on my wife's car just because it is simple and I want to use it up. I don't really care for it. I don't use my Medallion PPC anymore. Nor do I ever use the Pinnacle Crystal Mist or Meg's Final Inspection. I very occasionally use the Blackfire wash and QD. I never use the Meguiar's Gold Class Leather stuff. I don't use the Blackfire GEP anymore. Oh, I never use my Spray & Wipe anymore either. Nor #7.

Basically all I use now is the occassional DACP, some SFP, Blackfire Protectant, Final Detail, and some Medallion PPP for my wife's car. Actually, I even use Rain-X still on my wife's car. It works pretty well for a few weeks. I use Lexol cleaner and both Lexol and Pinnacle conditioner for leather. I use Poorboy's Natural Look and Meg's #40 on the interior, Final Detail on the wood trim and chrome, and APC+ on anything and everything. And of course I use my PC... Oh, and #00, A2Z, and Meg's Hi-Tech Wheel Cleaner (#34? or 36?). And I love DavidB's sheepskin wash mitts.

Add me to the list.

Between the junk that I've bought (1 step leather treatment, sucky wheel cleaners) and the stuff I've "inheirited" from my dad's stocks (old, old waxes that still "work", the ubiquitous TW Polishing Compound) I can't bring myself to simply toss them! I'm always trying to think of things to use them on, but either never get around to it or am simply too lazy. :p

Turtle Wax wheel cleaner in the orange bottle.

Turtle Wax "100% pure carnuba" liquid wax.

Turtle Wax window cleaner

Blue Coral clearcoat cleaner of some sort.

KIT scratch remover.

Armor All leather wipes.

Eagle One tire spray

I had a brand new bottle of Armor All I had sitting in the garage for a few years before I finally threw it out. Now that I think of it, I should've kept it to use in the wheel wells, oh well.

I still have a few products I don't use very much. They're still with all my other detailing products though.

Actually, I find the TW Chrome Polish to be pretty good on chrome, although I use sealants now. It's also great for stainless stain exhaust tips and such. Nothing lasts very on that, so I would rather use cheap stuff like the chrome polish.

It's not a disgraced products shelf... it's a shelf of products to use on mowers, kids' bikes, etc. Or maybe the shelf of products to use on somebody's car that you're not sure is going to pay for the detail or not...

For that, I think you would go to the kitchen cupboard and break out the SOS pads.....

Here's mine..

Armor All leather wipes. ( I think more product gets on my hands than the leather)

Liquid Glass

Liguid Glass (Pre-cut Cleaner)

Yeah, I have the TW polishing and rubbing compounds there, too, but I still use them for rough jobs. I can't bring myself to use any of the stuff on anything; well, I DID use the NuFinish on my dad's Trailblazer; it's HUGE, and he doesn't clean it EVER, so I figured, on thing about NuFinish is it lasts a long time. You'd never see what it looked like underneath all the dirt anyhow.

There are many products I stopped using however I wouldn't call them disgraced.

I have 5 types of leather conditioner including the Meguiars Gold Class Spray and Cream, Lexol Cleaner Conditioner and the Griots. I've settled on the Griots, the other stuff has been demoted to maintaining the couches in the family room;) All work well for a particular application.

I have the old Meguiars Quickwax which I now use to maintain BBQ Grille exterior. Although I will say I get the same streaky finish I got on my cars paint years ago. :o

Zaino has been delegated to the engine bay and wheels.:up

I'll use my other waxes/polishes on my wifes car and I often give stuff away to my friends. I'm a neat freak BTW.:o

I've got several mostly dried out bottles of Auto Magic's Wet Wax that comes with the blue Clay Magic bar. I tried it once, dusted up too much and left a very average shine.

I have a can of "safety clean"brand (yeah...the big yellow trucks you see on the road) carnuba wax that I bought about 8 years ago.....will never use it again but just cant get rid of it.
