Does 3M hand glaze remove Zaino?

I was @ a VW show and another owner that had the same paint told me he used 3M hand glaze. I was impressed w/the results.

Can't say if his finish had more pop than mine (Zaino 5/2) but I felt like trying something new...and I had the hand glaze already.

I've used it and my finish DOES look great...2nd place and 2 -3rd place finishes in VW shows with large fields of cars....but the paint feels "squeaky clean" and not silky.

Plus I, for the first time, have encounted some bird-poo etching I'm going to have to PC off the clearcoat. I know the car has had doodie on it before, but it's never etched.

The "clean" feel of the paint + the etch makes me wonder if I've glazed off all the Zaino goodness.

Hey Jman5000! I remember you from VWVortex - few years back.

Right?

I doubt 3M's hand glaze would remove Zaino.

That being said, it probably could effect the long term durability of Zaino by potentially breaking the crosslinking of Zaino the clear over time.

If you can't tell the difference of it on your vehicle, why bother putting it on? I'd just forego the step and stick with Zaino.

The 3M Hand Glaze is made to "fill" swirls and spider webbing. It also contains oils, which probably adds gloss as well as filling properties. That being said, I've tried it over my Zaino Z5 or Z2, and did not notice a difference in appearance. I also don't think it will remove your previous coats of Zaino since it's not intended to be a polish. Just make sure you get rid of the 3M HG before you decide to Zaino again for optimal bonding, etc.
