My pads arrived yesterday, so here goes:
Figured I would use a DA, especially my technique for rotary and black paint needs more practice due to holograms (generally speaking).
Orange pad was not needed, can't wait to try it on hard paint. My usual hard paint combo is Rotary with Purple Foamed Wool.
Dodge Durango 2003 - daily driver and a work truck (yes, even with those rims)
Tools
Ultima Waterless Wash
Griots clay
Griots Garage DA
Dodo Fin Cut pads - polish/finish
Ultimate twins (compound and polish)
Griots wax remover
Dodo Blue Velvet Pro as LSP
Car arrived for a 3 hr AIO spruce up, perfect for testing on one panel, no time for all of vehicle.
At first I thought priming will be difficult, I was wrong. Compound was easy to rub into foam.
After 6 passes, medium pressure and slow arm movement. Compound did not dry, easy to remove after working it.
Next time for Ult. Polish
6 passes, slow arm = clarity
Comparison to Lake Country Cool Wave pad (current favor of mine)
Tomorrow we plan to use AF Tripple and finish pad on all the rest of the vehicle.
The pads worked excellent, will have no hesitation to order more. With these new designs, I believe you get a better working session of compounds. Keeps them from drying up so quickly.
Also, panels was finished by a coworker that has never used a DA before and finish came out 85% flawless. Would like to say higher but I usually like to check in the sun to make a higher claim.
Coworker claims he saw 100%, we had a hard time photographing light reflecting off the paint due to using an iPhone 5 for photos and my bad skill.
