Hey, i was just wondering how many of you all use PPE, like ear plugs, safety glasses. gloves, etc.?

I never really cared to much about it myself until i started working in a plant. They are real big on PPE there, and i figured i could take it 1 step further and start protecting myself on my own time.

I keep a pair of 33nrr or so ear muffs handy in my detailing collection along with assorted ear plugs. the push-ins are convenient because you don't have to wait for them to expand in your ear. it really cuts down on polisher drown.

I never see anyone wearing any PPE in click and brags. except for the occasional latex gloves while applying leatherique....but we all know thats not for personal protection ;)

mine are similar to these: http://www.mende-industrie.de/images/product_images/popup_images/347_0.jpg

so, do any of yall wear anything?

Safety glasses when using a buffer and latex gloves when applying chemicals and cleaning the interiors. You know how people can be a bit on the unsanitary side.

I typically wear safety glasses because of my contact lenses. Just habit I guess. Ear plugs just to because the sound is annoying. That or some noise canceling headphones playing some good tunes.

When compounding, I use a respirator to prevent the dust going into my lungs. I also use safety glasses (anti-fog)for it as well.

Also when doing interior cleaning and wheel cleaning, I use latex gloves since all the residue can be tough on my thin skin. No one should sacrifice safety for speed.

I use nitrile glove when dealing with wheels and Valuguard ABC. But I take them off when claying.. Use ear plucks when buffing..

I wear safety glasses when spraying wheel and tire cleaning chemicals, nitirlie gloves when cleaning interiors and hand applications of waxes and sealants and and ear plugs while .

I wear s simple dust mask if the compound I am using tends to have a high dusting factor.

I wear nitrile gloves for just about everything and an N95 mask or full respirator when working with nastier chemicals.

.....I use ear plugs, gloves and a respirator depdening on the products/tools I'm using. I buy the gloves and plugs in bulk packs.

ill admit for years I never worried about that stuff and now I suffer a lot from over the years. My hearing is down a little and my hands are all messed up. I wish I would have done something for my wrist as well. Oh well. I learned the hard way. If I actaully posted a close up of my hands you guys would kill me. Anyway this is a great thread. I now practice some better safe methods.

Same here, sure messed up my hearing before I knew better, and heaven knows what'll come of all the nasty stuff I breathed in over the years.

Now I'm all about Eyes-and-Ears, and I wear gloves even when I'm just doing a wash.

I quit using compounds that require a respirator, but I do wear one when it's called for (usually only undercarriage painting/coating). Gee, we never wore anything back in the day, even when shooting highly toxic paint :o
