Do they make gloves for cold weather details?

Customer wants his car done this weekend and its gonna be low 40's. I would like to not be numb w/in 5min of washing the car. So are there any gloves out there that you guys use for the cold washes?

Mr. Clean has some new rubber gloves out....about $2.50 in the grocery store or ChinaMart, etc. I used to be find fleece-lined gloves. Those were the best as the temps head towards 20F !

LoL thanks. I did a detail last week w/ the same temp. and it wasn't fun washing lol.
 
Go to the grocery store and find yourself some dishwashing gloves. I've tried several different types of gloves...I think the cheapie ones are about the best since they tend to be thin but certainly give adequate protection against cool ambient temps.



You're using luke warm wash water, right?
 
Go to Home Depot and get some chemical proof rubber gloves. They are in the aisle with all of the woodworking stains, poly's, etc. I have a pair of black acid proof ones and you cannot feel the water whatsoever. I used them at a self service when it as bone chilling cold and my hands were fine.



Just be careful that you don't actually touch your paint with them. They are very durable and therefore rough to touch.
 
Im sorry but.....low 40's?

I have washed cars in the high 20's, now that sucks. My shoes literaly freeze to the pavement if i stand in 1 spot for more than a 30 seconds.
 
Somewhere over in the toilet-brush aisle at Target they have some cotton-lined vinyl textured kitchen gloves that seemed pretty good and not too expensive IIRC.
 
Go to the wal mart hunting area and look for neoprene gloves. Your hands may smell like a gym shoe afterwords, but it's basically a wet suit for your hands. I wear them for putting out duck decoys in freezing weather on freezing water, so they will handle the temps you are talking about just fine. Probably in the 5-8 dollar range. Might be low or out of stock now that spring has supposedly arrived (it's 31 degrees right now here in central Iowa)
 
Do yourself a favor if you're not already doing this. Get some ONR and use a bucket of warm water. Makes all the difference in the world. As an alternative to ONR, especially if you need it quick, look for ProtectAll Quick and Easy Wash (QEW) at a local RV supply.
