So you want to fix your yellow and faded headlights
But you're not a professional detailer or do not have access to air tools or a buffer. This guide is for you.
Necessary tools

[*]1000, 2000, 3000 Grit WET Sandpaper
[*]A small bucket to fill with water
[*]Car soap
[*]A few clean microfiber towel
[*]All purpose cleaner, car wash, or equivalent
[*]Meguiars Scratch-X or equivalent quality polish
[*]Clean foam or microfiber applicators
[/list]
All of the above can be purchased at any auto parts store or even better, Wal-Mart. You can also follow this guide using the 3m headlight restoration kit. It comes with all of the above and can be attached to a cordless drill making results better and your arm will be less tired.
Step One
Give the car a good wash and thoroughly clean the headlights
Step two
Tape off all surrounding areas to prevent scratching your car
Step three
Gently wet sand with 1000 grit. If you're doing this by hand it is safer to just use 2000 first and move up from there.
Step four
Gently wet sand with 2000 grit
Step five
Again, gently wet sand with 3000 grit smoothing out the surface as much as possible.
Step Six
Polish the headlight with Scratch-X and a foam applicator. This process is time consuming by hand.
Step Seven
Protect and coat with your favorite wax or sealant. Coatings will last much longer, but a wax will work if applied often.
And the video that will walk you through the entire process:
