Dishwashing detergent...

I'm about to repair a paint chip and i've read to wash the area the night before with P21S to remove wax/grease from the chip.

I don't have access to P21S so I was wondering if a highly diluted dishwashing detergent would do the same trick?

Any suggestions?

I would use denatured alcohol or prepsol to make sure everything is cleaned off to set the area up properly for the touch up.

I would use a degreaser over dish detergent. Depending on what you have lying around ... Prepsol would be ideal. TSP works. Citrus based cleaner for your home etc.
