Discontinued Products

OK, I am already bummed out that Autopia's purple waffle weave drying towel and khaki microfibers are discontinued. (If anybody knows where any are stockpiled, I'm interested.)

So, I read that some very popular 3M products are now ... guess what .... yep, discontinued. Accumulator really likes 3M's PI-III RC (pn 05933), and says it easier to use than some other products, so I think I'll have to order some of that before it disappears.

Is there anyting else on the list of things that is

very effective

very user-friendly

recently discontinued

that you pros would recommend?

I already ordered five Meg's #16 from PakShak. (Bet you would've suggested that.)

Thanks!

Detailer's Paradise has the large purple towel, but not at the price point that Autopia did.

Russ, I use both the purple WW from ACC and the light blue WW from Pakshak.

It might be worth noting that IMO, Pakshaks WW is FAR better than the purple.

I also use both the khaki MF from ACC and blue ultra-MF from Paks. Again, while I like the khakis, the Ultra-MF is better.

They're both a bit more pricey, but for the quality upgrade and with the Autopia discount they're worth it.

You might be better off sourcing your WW and MF from there. :up

Alfisti,

Thanks for the info.

For some reason, I like the larger waffle pattern of the old Autopia purple. I know the hemless design caused some unraveling, but I still liked the towel. I'll give Ranney's a try, though.

Ditto with the khakis ... they worked very well, specifically for product removal after hazing. A plusher micro that I tried (though not, admittedly, a PakShak version) seemed to load up a lot faster. I'll try Ranney's version here, too.

Thanks!

#16 and Pinnacle Paste Glaz. :(

I have 2 tins of 16 and 2.5 jars of Paste Glaz though. That should hold me for a long time.

If you can still get your hold on either of these, I highly recommend them.

rayvenn- While you're getting the PI-III RC (05933), you might also get some PI-III MG (05937), which is a perfect follow-up to the RC. Also works great by itself on minor marring. I don't expect any problems with the PI-3000 replacements, but I'm still partial towards products that have worked so well for me. I'm torn between stocking up on more of these or getting the PI-3000, if only so I can tell people what to expect from the new stuff.

Good move on the #16 :xyxthumbs

White95Max and Accumulator,

Thanks. Exactly the kind of info I was asking for. It's aggravating to try something, find you like it a lot, and then find out it's not available any more. I'm pretty happy that I ordered several #16s before they were completely gone.

Accumulator,

For working the 3M PI products ... Do I work them in with slow passes (one inch/second or so)? Stop just before they flash dry, or keep working until that happens?

Thanks for the advice, everyone.
