Dirt from the rain..*pic*

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this off without scratching my paint?



Thinking maybe power wash some of it off, then take my SSS suds, let is soak, then rinse, THEN use my mit?

That sounds like it would work. Just, when you use the power washer, be careful. I was a smart 15 year old a few years back and took my dad's 2300 psi washer and used it to get some caked on dirt off my car. I sure did get that dirt off... my paint too. When your using the mitt, just make sure you take really short strokes and rinse the mitt out frequently and you should be alright.
 
LOL Has your car ever had dirt on it before? Like White95Max said, just wash it like normal (maybe add more soap).

agreed. also, i have some soap in a spray bottle that i use to spray on to loosen the dirt a little, then just hose off as much dirt as you can before starting to wash .
 
When the first snow hits my northern country I can take a picture of my car looking 10 times worse than that :LOLOL
 
LOL, just looks like most cars i wash, rinse/pre soak with a hose, and wash with the good old two bucket method.
 
Im sorry to tell you this, but that looks like it's going to require a repaint.



Actually I think a wash mit will do just fine :2thumbs:

I have the same thing on my 03 Silverado. Have washed it three times in the last nine days. Most recently this very morning. It is not coming off with just a simple wash.



In order for me to get this mess off the front fender and front driver's door I washed with dawn and hot water then Adam's detail spray and claybar. got the majority off but there were still stains. Used the detail spray and clay bar again. It helped some. Used AIO and a white LC pad with my PC to gt the last of it off. Put a layer of Adam's butter wax on the fender and the door. Then ran out of steam.



will try to do a little at a time to get the truck back into looking like it has an owner that cares.



I hope that a little extra soap and the two bucket method is enough to get the problem resolved. It was not the case for my truck.

I get better cleaning action from car soaps than I do with Dawn.

This vehicle drove about 400 miles in seven months. The rest of the time the vehicle sat in the Texas sun and wind 24/7. Unfortunately my wife did nothing to take care of it. There was no room in the garage.



Morning after morning of dew,dust and sun baking.



As far as the Dawn wash, I have to say that all of my car wash soaps did nothing to the baked on dirt that the Texas enviroment provided. Dawn and a clay bar finally did something as well as AIO and a white LC pad to get it looking better. Notice i did not say right but it is better.

I'll be washing the car this weekend. damn rain! :furious:
 
Seems about the same as washing off winter grit without scratching.



I'd use a foamgun (gee, big surprise :o ). If the dirt is both really gritty/abrasive and firmly stuck to the vehicle, I'd spray the foam through the bristles of a BHB while barely contacting the dirt/paint. Just touch it enough for the tips of the bristles to dislodge the dirt and let the foamy suds flush it away. Whatever doesn't come off with gentle wash methods I'd clay off, being *very very careful* not to drag the contamination across the paint once it's stuck to the clay.
