Dilemma

Ok, so my GF came in the house and jokingly said the neighbor (3 houses down) was washing his car and needed my help. I went outside and watched for a few minutes and this is what I saw: A guy washing a gold BMW X1 with what looked like a t-shirt, using one bucket. The most appalling sight was he dropped the t-shirt (wash medium) and picked it up and continued washing.

I`m going to preface my dilemma by stating that I do not know my neighbors as I am constantly gone due to work and most of my neighbors move in and out before I even know.

Dilemma: How do I approach my neighbor and educated him that there are better ways to wash a vehicle? I tried to ignore it and continue on with my day, but the Autopian in me cant let it go.

Meh, maybe leave it alone, some people do not care to put effort into it and you don`t know if he`ll get upset from embarrassment or ego from you telling him he`s doing it wrong. I see my neighbor(whom I talk to and knows I detail) wiping his car down with a t shirt or bath towel in the mornings and I`ve told him he`s scratching it by doing that....he doesn`t care and still does it.

You`re probably right, but that wont stop me from thinking about it.

Leave it alone and make him pay you to fix it lol

:rofl:rofl I doubt he`d be willing to pay for a detail if he does that

Better than the guy across the street from me "washing" his car with windex and paper towels...

YIKES

So i came across a guy yesterday using a push broom to sweep snow off of his car. I kindly let him know that he was putting micro scratches in the clear and his response was "it has yet and I have been doing this for years. In fact i haven`t had this detailed since i bought it 10 years ago and it`s just as shiny as when we bought it new"

shook my head and walked away

I guess not a lot of people really care about their vehicles

You could ask him if he needed some help and tell him about some great new products you have been using. Most people won`t take free advice, but free stuff they will happily accept. Take him some of your excess products and offer to show him how to use them. If he looks friendly, offer more advice and products (and this website).

Good idea, if I see him do it again I`ll give that a shot
