Hello, I'm trying to educate myself here so please show me the ropes.

I'm looking for one of these Gizmos which I think will be pretty neat to follow the work during the paint correction process. The problem is that I know very little about them. I was told that Amazon sells them.

Amazon.com: Veho VMS-001 x20-x200 Magnification Discovery Digital USB Microscope with Alloy Stand: Electronics

I've seen them as powerful as 500x, BUT they are all from overseas with a very long delivery date 30+ days.

So, my question is, does anyone knows who sells them in USA at a reasonable price? Is there any brand better than other? I'd like to get my hands on one of them with X 500 capabilities.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

If we're saying 30x is overkill, what is 500X gonna be like though

I personally would love to have the TV monitor set up to look at the magnified paint like they have in that thread. It's like a doctor in surgery looking at the endoscope cam :D

30x zooms in pretty far already, I can't imagine 500x. I had $10 30x with a light and it worked pretty nicely for zooming in on some other things. Broke it before I got to use it for detailing though.

If I remember correctly this was a version used by Miracle Detail- Digital Microscope - this enables you to analyze and capture paint surface defects, the unit’s interchangeable lenses provides it with tremendous versatility. With the 0-10X lens, it becomes a high-quality video camera.

Magnification can be increased to a startling 200X power in a matter of seconds (50x seems to be a good magnification for detailing work) the lens mount is an industry-standard C-Mount that will accept third-party lenses. ProScope HR™ CSI Science Level 1, includes- 1/0-10x Lens, 1/50x Lens, 1/Carrying Case - Bodelin Technologies ProScope HR CSI Science Level PS-HR-LVL1

If I ever were to get that,it gives me reason to just move my office to the garage. The computer monitor would constantly have shots of various angles of my clear coat :o :D

Thanks for the info David, few things stand out to me from that thread.

The ability of the mighty Porter Cable and two don't matter how many jobs you do, or you have seen done, you will always come across one that will make your jaw drop.:tongue2:

At any rate, I have to find one of those tools. I don't know about you guys but educating the customers is a huge challenge, and this Gizmo may make things a little easier for the customers to understand.

How do you feel about this economical solution?

If you have a shop with a camera-monitor set up that magnifies paint like that, surely you'll highly impress customers. People are used to them in medical environments but when it might come to showing damage to a clear coat, I know I for one would be  :bow :xyxthumbs
