Different Kinds of MF Towels

Partially Deaf

Hey guys,

I've been doing research as to what kind of microfiber towels I should be keeping around. So far, I have some really plush ones that I use for quick detailing, and I have some waffle weaves for drying. However, I am having a problem figuring out what I should use for the removal of wax/sealant.

Previously I was using costco MF towels for everything except drying, but they seem to not be as soft after just one or two uses. So, I am looking for what instead I should use for wax removal.

Should I just be using the same super plush towel as I use for quick detailing, or would something with shorter strands/nap be better suited for the job?

What kind of towels do you guys have? any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

Thanks!

I like short nap or woven pile microfiber for polish and wax removal ..something like Meg's Supreme Shine microfiber.

The plusher ones roll too much for me when they are used folded unless you really hold them against the paint.

Wax removal is usually done with a short-nap or flat-weave towel. I used to like Microfibertech, but their pricing and ordering structure isn't as good as it used to be. There are many, many sources for good towels, and IMO price isn't always a good indicator. Autopia Car Care and Autogeek have good towels, but they are overpriced IMO unless you can get them on a good sale (which is often). One place you might try right now is Excel Detail since they have good towels and are having a 30% off sale for as long as the inventory lasts, and they have great service.

If you look at the Microfibertech site, the Medium Terrry 300 is a good general purpose towel, the Plush Terry 360 (also known as the Elite) is a great towel, great edging, one plush side, one less plush, if I had to pick only one towel, this would be it. You can also see the Edgeless. Similar towels are available elsewhere.

BTW, there are like 100 threads on this same topic.

The Supreme Polishing towel from ExcelDetail is nice. I have a bunch and find them to be a very good all-around towel.

Plus, the customer service is great.

I love my "uber-fluffy " towels. Over 700 grams per square meter. I prefer them for wax removal and QD.

I use the plush and mega plush for polish and other general detail work.

While I sometimes use suede-style/no-nap MFs for removing sealants, I generally use plush ones for most jobs. Currently, most of my good ones are probably PakShack's.

I will say I don't use my *super* plush ones for removing LSPs.
