Different Kind of Detailing...

I made a post about this a few weeks ago. How I bought my house in August of 2008 and took my car detailing skills and applied it to my counter top, toilet, sink, etc. All which look 100x better.

After some thinking and weighing out the pros and cons. I am gonna try and make some money doing this. I have a full-time job that I am keeping, this is gonna be more of a "test run". I had business cards made and a magnetic sign for my truck.

I hope this time I can get some feedback. Is this a good idea???
 
Well, it might be a good idea. It really depends on your target market.

Are you licensed? Insured? Bonded? I'm just a middle-class-average-joe but I wouldn't let just anyone into my home, too many scam artists and fly-by-night people out there. Did you take the time to find out who your competition is? What they offer? How much they charge? Find a way to set yourself apart and I'm sure you can be successful. Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.
 
Devils advocate here but how is any of that any different than a normal house cleaning service? What makes your niche market that sets your services apart from the 100's of top notch services already available?

Then we would all be taking our cars to the corner scratch and dash? I dont think the Merry Maids are into polishing or preserving, they pretty much wipe and run, like your hack jobber.

I think your onto something. Best of luck......What did you name the business?
 
Just to chime in...we have purchased two more ozone generators and marketed this service for home, to property managers, real estate agents, etc. So, drop the machines in the house at night and pick them up in the morning. Catch is, as you all are aware, house must be vacant. Paid $500 while you sleep!!!

I named the business; "Akis Design Household Perfection". As my father owned a business with the name Akis. Figure, he was relatively successful.

The problem with this "hustle" is the economy. It's not a good time to do anything but hold on to what you have. However, I have everything I need (Give or take) to start. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you guys posted.
