differences between QW'ing and QD'ing

Ok in a recent post I learned there is a difference between QW'ng (Quick Waxing) and QD'ing which most of you know what QD'ing is.

QW requires a clean cool surface, much like regular wax. QD requires a cool surface but does not have to be clean. This is where I get lost. When QW means a clean surface, are we referring to DACP + Swirl Free clean or just a through wash job clean????? 91

I'm new to this board, but I've been an avid detailer for aournd two years. Quick waxing requires a dirt-free surface, or else you'll move the dirt around and scratch the surface (i.e. create swirls). I usually quick wax after my car's weekly wash, just to kind of "refresh" the original wax. Hope this helps.

I prefer not to QD unless the surface is clean as well. My old regimen was that if I can't use the CCD to clean the surface before QD then I need to wash first. Now I use Spray & Wipe mixed with QuikShine and don't have to worry.

I use Poorboys Spray & Wipe mixed with Poorboys QD+. I don't worry about whether the surface is clean or cool. I just do it, sun or shade, dirt or no dirt. :)

F-150, for the most part, a quick wax, is a concentrated QD, IMO. QW's (EO-WAUD, Meg's QW ) should be performed with a clean surface. You dont need to go through the DACP and SMR, otherwise theres no such thing as QW'ing, you might as well put a layer of poly or Carnauba on......QD'ing on the otherhand was/is meant for light cleaning and light protection.......

With Eagle one WAUD you should have a beading surface, not sure if you can do the same with Meg's......

I think QW is like waxing, only quicker. It adds shine and protection. QD is to take off bird crap or bugs or just dirt without having to wash the whole car.
