Been meaning to ask this, is DC just like a franchise for AG or something since all the products and layout of the site seem the same? Same for Superiorautocare I believe? Just curious lol.:smile

Um, go to www.detailcity.com and read the ABOUT US page.
Like I didn't think of that  :D

Only reason I was asking is the products and layout seem the same as Autogeek, that's why I was wondering if they just resell for Autogeek or were like a franchise for them or something. The other site has what looks like the same layout and products as AG as well. Just curious, not putting them down or anything.

They both use the Yahoo Store platform as do alot of online car care vendors, this is not proprietary to Autogeek. Header on the top, footer on the bottom, left side navigation and products in the body of the page.

They are resellers of PBMA products Pinnacle, Wolfgang and DP plus they sell alot of the other products.

Detail City was started by Dwayne McPeeks, formerly of Four Star Products, he is also the same person that created Premiumautocare.com.

He left a few months ago and now DC is owned by Troy and Sheila Armstrong. It's an independent company, no franchise. Franchises generally share the name of their parent company. Think of Subway, McDonalds....

See, that cleared it up, thought they were a reseller, just that I know yahoo store fronts have same layouts and thought maybe AG had a stake in the company or something.

Cool, was just bugging me, lol.

From what I know, Autogeek and Detail City are certainly allies in the industry. I don't think just "anyone" can sell PBMA brand products since they set the standard so high.

well the superior auto care site i asked meghan baout a while back and IIRC, i think she basically said they used to be partners and i think both created the pinnacle line or something, then PBMA bought them out but they are still friendly competition

just remembered.... isnt it also a little weird that all 3 of those sites are in florida...just an odd kowinkydink

I can't comment on the whole PBMA company but I have a general understanding where Premuim Autocare (now Detail City.com) came from. Dwayne was a delivery man for Four Star Products and over time he ran the internet sales of Four Star under the Premium Autocare name. Over time Dwayne aquired more products while still working for Four Star. He then left that company and bought the web site and was self employed. About a year ago he switched the forum, which was detailcity.com to detailcity.org and then the detailcity.com is what it is today. Dwayne then sold DC over to Troy and Sheila not too long ago. That's my understanding of how DC came to what it is today.... and Dwayne, Fuzz or Troy let me know if I said something wrong.

Long story short there is no connection between AG and DC. They both came from their separate ways and are two very fine detail supply stores and supporters of this forum.
