Did my car yesterday (RMG+UPP)

Well after months and months of reading and since I had to buy a clay bar, I decided to go for an entire kit

Washed black car

Langka repair chip

Clayed

Washed again and noticed it was still grainy

Clayed once again (car was never clayed)

Washed again

Used Sonus Anti-Swirl Polish (got it free with my order)

Applied RMG via PC (speed at 3)

Applied 1 coat of UPP via PC...then I dropped dead.

Tonight I will applied a 2nd coat of UPP..but I just notice that I didn't order a paint selant like WG (as that guy in the UK did), do you think I could use Gold Class Wax instead )or is that just a waste...and go buy the paint sealant)???

My review of the products

Clay: Used the new fine-clay with lubricant from Sonus

Very easy to use, but the clay did deteriate about 3/4 of the way (and I did use lots of lubricant). I had to re-clay the car again, and I used the other new clay, and got the same results. Maybe it doesn't hold up well.

Sonus Anti-Swirl and Polish: Did a great job in bringing out the black. Very easy and great shine.. I could clearly see the old paint and new paint...but for removing swirls, it sucked. I applied by hand and by PC (may be that I am not experienced) and saw no effect.

I also tried IP with the PC (speed at 3) and didn't see any improvements on my swirl marks (on a small section of my car). I was not able to break the product down, and trying not to risk my paint I stopped using it and went with Sonus Anti-Swirl polish.

RMG: Wow..what a product, I got such a beautiful dark black color..easy to apply with PC.

UPP: another super easy to apply...but you must apply it very thin.

Langka repair kit: Maybe the touch-up paint I had was old, but I wasn't very impressed on this product. I used the supplied credit card to rub off the excessive touch-up paint on the chip (as instructed) and I ended up scratching it more :(

Sorry I have no pics, it's because I'm a little embarrassed because I didn't remove any swirl marks and I was eager to apply the other products. The car looks amazing!!! So deep in black..wow...RMG and UPP are tops..

Now do I top it with Gold Class or place another order for a paint sealant??

Thanks.

I would top it with a pure Carnuba myself. The light cleaners in Gold Glass may remove some off the UPP.

The reason why you didn't see any improvement with IP was because you were at speed 3.

Crank that thing up to 6 next time. Put down a little pressure, but not much, and work slowly. Inspect after each pass.

:idea

Exactly. You can NOT expect the PC to have much agressiveness unless it is at speed 5-6. The idea here is that it takes heat and friction to "work" a polish -- you must work the polish for it to do any good. Wipe-on Wipe-off application doesn't give the product enough time to actually do any good. Due to the nature of the PC, there isn't enough heat or friction created to do anything with an agressive polish like IP unless it is worked at near-or-at the highest speed the buffer will allow. ESPECIALLY this is true on black paint.

Sounds like a fun time - one comment re: Langka. It will work better on newer touch up paint, but it's advertisements of perfect blob removal really are overstated. It is a good product but you have to be extremely steadyhanded and use it exactly as the instructions state. I personally like wetsanding better, but it is more dangerous.

Okay here are some pics..I live in a dusty area, so this afternoon when I decided to take some pics, it was very dusty already and didn't wipe it off

Whoa!! No, don't feel bad. It looks to me like a lot of that is beyond repair; there are WAY too many chips on the front bumper for you to fix with a touch-up job. And I'd venture to say that the worst of those swirls may not come completely out without a rotary. Just my observation....

Another thing I was thinking is to cover up the bumber with some black polish of somekind. To those products really work? (At least just on the bumber).

Nah; what's the point? If you "cover it up" with those colored waxes, you're essentially wasting your time. You will just end up re-using it over and over, getting merely mediocre results. Your best bet is to get the bump[/]er cover repainted, and protecting it with some 3M film.
