Did a friends "new" DD

A friend of mine picked up an 00 Taurus for a daily driver about a month ago. We decided to get together this past weekend to work on the paint. Adam had washed, clayed, and waxed it when he got it, so we skipped the clay. The Zymol wasn't holding up too well at this point either. The paint was pretty well swirled, as well as oxdized a bit, with lots of scratches and some pretty bad etching from water spots. The hood was the worst, as we tried different things, we probably spent almost an hour on the hood alone. The rest of the car wasn't as bad, but still needed TLC. Adam helped for a while (me teaching him), but then time was running out on us so I took over the polishing to speed things along to catch some sun.

Process is as follows:

Wash

Polishing with 1z UP with a cutting pad (yellow LC)

Polished with 1zPP with a light cutting pad (orange LC)

#16

Results: A ton better, swirls are gone, a lot of the etching is gone (some scratches and etches were so bad they wouldn't come out even with my heavy dutiest stuff), it now has depth and gloss, and looks wet. We were pleased with the results.

Before washing, you can see the water spots and swirls:

After washing, you can see the swirls well since the dirt was hiding them somewhat in the other pic:

Couple reflection pics and the whole car... the sun was setting, so we didn't get any real good pics unfortunately.

That looks amazing, nice transformation. Some times it's hard to get all the etching out :angry . Did you use clay or go right to polishing after washing? Any full car pics?

Sorry, you do have full pics I didn't get them first time  .

Sorry, had to wait the 60 seconds to post more. He had clayed a month before and the finish still felt good so I went on to polishing. Thanks for the compliment :)

Wow, the fuel filler shots are especially impressive - my wife was looking over my shoulder and she was amazed!

Will probably expect that level of finish from me now.

Thanks all :)

themightytimmah: A PC... products and pads listed above... speeds 4 1/2-5. Not too sure this is extreme detail worthy though.
