DG Nu-Glass 755 WOW!

It's been a while since a product really "wow'd" me, but since this is apparently the "Autopia Summer of Duragloss," I figured I'd revisit my attempt at removing the hard water spots on my windows. So I picked up some DG 755 Nu Glass for $5 and change at NAPA. An hour or so with it and a yellow pad on my PC, and my glass looks like new! Incredible product.

A few years ago, I tried the then-hyped Diamondite 3-step glass system (spray clay, cleaner and shield), and experienced my first disappointment with an internet-ordered, Autopian-recommended, costly botique product. As a result, I figured my spots were particularly ingrained and probably couldn't be dealt with effectively. I tried some other products and processes afterwards, but refused to resort to the steel wool approach.

This Duragloss product did everything I expected it to, easily and cost effectively. I learned, some time ago, the cost of jumping on every new Autopia bandwagon, so I try to avoid buying things that I don't see a current or imminent need for, but Duragloss has really impressed me with this product, and I will certainly try their other products when the need arises.

Glad to hear of your positive experience! It'd been a while since a product "wow'd" me too, which is why I've been so positive on the AW lately.

I'd like to not think of the DG products as the flavor of the month, but rather, a high quality, very well priced product line, with outstanding performance. With little past recognition/exposure/talk, these products were/are very underrated and passed by the radar most of the time. It's a great thing that they are getting more use and recognition for what they offer.

I think by definition, a "flavor of the month" product fizzles out because it's ultimate performance didn't or doesn't live up to the hype. I think people will find that DG products are more than a flavor or hype.... And, just because they can be found locally, doesn't mean they can't match or beat the "boutique" level of quality or performance. Collinite is another fine example.

:)

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check my local Napa to see if I can find it...My Napa only carries a couple of their products :(

Just ask them for it--that's what I did. They had it the next day. And don't forget to show your AAA card for a discount!

You're probably right, Mike. But there are definitely cycles here, even for products that do stand the test of time. I've watched Klasse, P21S, Optimum Polish, and various 3M and Meguiar's offerings--all excellent products--have their times in the sun. They weren't so much fleeting "flavors of the month" as much as good products which happened to be discussed more frequently at a particular time. Duragloss seems to fit in to that category, and seems to be just as deserving of the attention and praise as some of those other products were and remain.

I was just noting how I lose track of the fact that, as a hobbyist, I will not ever have the need or ability to go through as many products as Scottwax or one of the other pros on here. It just took me a while to realize that trying to do so was not cost effective for me! LOL.

i was just about to write a mini review on the nu glass too...i used it for the time the toher day w/ a blue polishing pads...all my water spots were removed with one pass!!

I just tried some of this stuff out yesterday. Some thoughts:

-terrible dusting via machine, I almost pitched it.

-then I tried it via hand, it works amazingly well, very little effort required, in fact using it via machine is a waste of time

-don't count it for fixing ANY scratching

-works very well to clean the windows to a like new state

-white residue gets caught in every little pit/nick on the front windshield

-smells like toothpaste

I've had the same bottle of NuGlass for a couple years now. Good stuff! I started using it via Flex 3401 and Megs Yellow pad. Since you can't get into every area via machine you have to use it by hand eventually. Once I used it by hand I quickly realized the machine was a complete waste of time. It's just as good by hand. I guess the machine might save you some elbow grease?
