I applied 531 on the plastic exterior trim, and although it went on very streaky, it did settle evenly after a few hours. However, after 2 days the 531 is still wet to the touch - I can actually smudge the plastic surface with a finger.

I shook the bottle well before use, and applied it sparingly. Is 531 meant to be wiped off? I wiped off one section but the 531 looked like it was gone afterwards... or maybe I need to apply it during hot summer days only so it will dry?

I haven't used 531 specifically, but I have used just about all their other vinyl/rubber/plastic treatments (253, 261, 265). If 531 is like their other marine products, it's probably very similar to the auto line I mentioned above, just a little "more potent".

I've noticed something very similar to what you're describing using 261. The first time I used 261 I def used too much and it took forever to dry and as you mentioned never seemed to totally dry. What I ended up doing was wiping it with a dry spong, then let the plastic sit in the sun a while and wipe it again. By the second time it was all but dry...then I just did a final wipe with a shop rag.

What I've come to learn is all the products I've mentioned, like to be applied very thinly in mulitple coats. If you do that and get a few coats on they actually last pretty well...much better than many plastic/vinyl/rubber protectants I've tried.
