Just seems that it is impossible to find the right pads/accessories for the dewalt. It is also difficult to use. At worked we switched to all pnuematic Rando Orbital so its time for me to get with the times.

Many members here are using the German Flex 3401, which is a forced-rotation DA, kind of a cross between a rotary and a DA. A bit more expensive and somewhat less flexible in pad selection, there are varying opinions on its utility but it definitely has more power than a PC (Porter Cable) and is easier to use than a rotary. There are a couple (maybe only one) other forced-rotation DA's but they don't seem to be as popular or available as the Flex.

How long have you tried with the dewalt? It probably one of the best machines out there. I wouldn't trade mine for a 100 D/A machines. just not even close to being in the same league. I have the Dewalt and the Makita Rotaries then I have the Dewalt D/A and the G110 D/A and I tell ya the dewalt rotary is far and far the best machine of the bunch for any sort of corrective work. and I've never had any issue finding a pad set up that works great for it.

What backing plate are you using? i have a bunch of foam pads for each of my machines. Easily found at all of the detail supply shops. Think i got most of mine right off AutoGeek.net But they all have them. The pads have absoultly nothing to do with the machine you're using it's all about the BP you're using.
