Determining which products to use on which vehicles

Being this is my first post and this might be a stupid question, how do you guys determine which products to use when detailing a vehicle.

Example:

On my truck, a Sonic Blue Ranger Edge, I am going to use Meguiars DACP then Poorboys products because I read great things about their products and I read that carnuba will give darker colors more pop. On my girlfriends white Ranger and my mom's Tahoe, also white, Iam going to use Platinum UPC and UPP. I am stuck on what to use on my dad's silver Dodge Ram though. I have seen what a good job Vanilla Moose and Moose wax does which I want to try. So does the color and condition of paint or just personal preference determine which products. Sorry for the long post.

By Moose Wax, I hope you mean the Carnauba version. Much better product. Regular Moose Wax is great for wheels, door jams, etc or for a quickie one step, but Carnauba Moose Wax has a much wetter shine.

Basically, carnauba combos are going to give you a wetter and deeper shine with slightly muted reflections (at least compared to synthetics), while true synthetic combos are going to be shinier and have real sharp reflections.

IMO, appearance wise, carnauba combos look best on darker and non metallic colors and synthetics look best on light colors and metallics. I think your blue Ranger would be the best candidate for VM and CMW, Poorboys on the silver Dodge and Platinums line up on the white Tahoe and Ranger, although you may want to try Poorboys on one of the white vehicles, just to see which you prefer.

BTW, this is Vanilla Moose/Carnauba Moose on white:

Thanks for the help guys. My Ranger I am actually going to start showing at car shows in '04, so I need to start working on getting it ready. Being that it is somewhat stock and am doing a little bit at a time I really want to get the paint to pop. The other thing with my mom working at a hospital I am hoping to drum up some business when I am done with her Tahoe.

Another thing I liked on copper and silver metallics is Glanz Wax , it seems to make the metallics glisten. I never noticed this until my sister wasn't happy with GC on her 04 Copper Mirano so we did the clay/Glanz on it .. and WOW!!!
