hey guys,

well Detailed 2 Perfection re-opened for the season. my buddy and i spent most of the day, saturday, on one of our clients 996 carrera 4s. not too bad. just washed her up, griotts clay (which i swear by now), klasse aio, s100 paste wax.

here are some pictures:

the following day, i decided to give my car "the treatment." this included a level 2 detail. i wish i had more time to give it a level 3. washed, clay bar, meg. medium cut cleaner applied with green pads on a dual cyclo machine and klasse aio. i wish i had extra time to apply some s100 paste wax but, the auto-x that day was callin' my name.

question: what's the difference between the s100 and s21 wax? i know the s100 is for the harley's and s21 is for cars. but the shine i get with the s100 is insane! can the s21 be THAT much better?

anyway, here are a couple pics of the m3 (gotta love that reflection):

looks awesome.. for some reason it looks like your m3 has more OP than my camry... Guess price isn't always quality... who knows...

I agree with you on the Griots Clay. I once tried the Mother's clay... it would stick all over the paint. Griots gets the job done:up

You gotta love Avus Blue-such a nice color! And the car looks great by the way.

The OP present is fairly typical of BMW finishes. I can tell you that earlier BMW's made before the early-mid '90's generally have a good bit less OP, but when BMW had to switch to more enviromentally friendly paint (which I believe they use a water based clear coat process) the finishes had more OP.

But the actual overall quality of BMW's finish is excellent, and I have found that the finish holds up better over time than others. So overall I tend to think you do get something for that price-not even taking into account they are just about the most fun to drive cars-period. :xyxthumbs

Looks good but I think this thread should be in Click & Brag.

S100 and P21S have different formulations despite the similar packaging.

Amazing work on both cars, the Carrera though is outstanding!

personal question for some of you balling detailers.. what the hell do you do for a living besides detailing? i drive a old *** camaro while i see some of you in bmws, mercedes, porches, etc.. do you steal them from your customers and replace it with a beater? show me the way! he he

thanks for the compliments guys. hard work really does pay off, when the shine looks that cool. :)

detailing is just a side job. i'm a financial analyst for a very large book company (school books mostly). i do this with my buddy on saturdays/sundays, just to bring in extra money. if we grow to the point where we need help, then we'll probably buy a shop, get employee's.. well you know the drill.

i use rightlook.com's premium tire dressing. works great! i like a lot of their products. (ie: chrome and glass polish- regardless of the name, works great on exhausts. my exhaust with 64k miles looked shot. i hit it up with some of that stuff and almost 102k miles later, it looks brand new. HIGHLY recommended)
